question on door latch 521

So I went to take the Datsun out this morning and when I closed my door it swung back open... after taking off door panel I noticed the spring on the door latch broke so it wont allow my door to stay shut. Am I able to find a new spring or do I need a whole new latch? Nissan couldnt find a spring on their parts page anywhere.

I would think you are looking at a whole latch assembly.

Ace hardware stores have a big selection of springs.  You might find one there that will work to replace the broken spring. 

 

another option is junkyards, and find a 521 there, or possibly another Datsun model might use the same latch, or a latch very colse to the 521 latch, that has a usable spring.
