8v 4G64 from a mighty max is almost a straight swap and is a wide block with a cable trans and has 130hp stock. I would someday like to swap a 24v 4G64 into my 72 Colt. As raptor said, classic colt is where the braintrust is on old mitsu's (not that he is not knowledgeable) and also sigma/galant, which is a better source of parts, but shipping is killer as almost everyone there is down under. Projectzerog has all the engine/trans info you could need.

8v 4g64 are 107hp/132tq, unless there is a higher compression version I do not know of. But good point on the swap, these engines/transmissions are easily available for cheap, then when the time comes 4g63 head swap and Turbo engage.

Interesting how the Mitsubishi numbers are growing on here lolol.

had a '76 I bought for $100, the guy said it just started missing and wouldn't pass smog. Bright orange, white interior and a rear louver, it only had 69,000 original miles on it. 1600/4sp it had a blown hg between 3/4. I left it with the ex when I bailed socal. It ended up at ecology.....

Running sour gas is roughly the same as running sugar; when it cools it tends to glue the valves in whatever position they were in. Like the others said; drain, fill and a couple cans of seafoam. $6.99 at napa through the end of the month.
