RTB
I got a terrific deal on 15x6 panasports but I'm having trouble choosing a tire size. It seems to fall into a category of being too narrow for nowadays performance tires. I don't really want to spend more than 400 dollars for the set and want them to be close to flush with the wheel lip. Any suggestions? Quote Link to comment

I would suggest a 195/50-15, unless something in your answers to those questions throws me for a loop. B) Quote Link to comment

Datsun Comp suspension (standard 510 struts with japanese insert and coil). Quote Link to comment

Chances are good the fronts will poke out regardless of tire size. I'd still go with a 195/50-15. Good selection of tires, good fit for a 6" wheel, and a good diameter for a 510. KlassicMotion
195/50/15; for all intents and purposes, is the same diameter as the common 185/60/14. I'm running the 185/60/14 and it does seem to be about perfect. Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
I know theres a big difference between tire manufactures on width. I wouldn't say "big", but if that's you're concern then get some of these... http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Kumho&tireModel=Ecsta+AST&partnum=95HR5EAST&vehicleSearch=false&fromCompare1=yes Good size, good in the rain, last well, and don't cost much. Quote Link to comment
RTB
are 205/50r15 too wide? Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Yes 205-width tires. Manufacturers suggest minimum rim width of 5.5" max 7". Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
are 205/50r15 too wide? A little too wide, a little too tall, and even more fender poke, so... Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
want them to be close to flush with the wheel lip. This should rule out 205s pretty quickly. ;) Quote Link to comment
KlassicMotion
datsunfreak is correct, with the stock 510 struts, and Zero offset wheels, the wheels themselves will stick out past your fenders, regardless of the tires. My setup is the 280zx struts, which moves the hub surface inward 1/2". Plus my wheels are 6" wide with +10mm offset. The side wall bulge is tucked about 1/2" inside the wheel arch lip. RTB
So what you're saying is I should swap struts. Quote Link to comment
KlassicMotion
Oh, most definitely!! :D Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
So what you're saying is I should swap struts. If you're in love with these wheels, it'll be the only "easy" way to get them inside the fenders. There are other benefits as well, bigger brakes, better parts availability, better scrub radius, etc. Quote Link to comment

datsunfreak
I have Nexen 195 45 15s This post is useless without pics. B) Here's a 195/45-15 on a 15x7 +0. It's actually too small a diameter for a 510, but if you're going fairly low it will let you go lower... 1 Quote Link to comment
datrod
195-50-15 on a Nissan stock 6" wheel Quote Link to comment
datrod
Not as cool as a real 510. But you get the idea. 1 Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Are those 240SX rims? They are +40 offset I think. Quote Link to comment
MARS 510
I think those are from the mid 80's 200sx. But I don't remember them having center caps.. Hey DATROD what kind of center caps are those from? 1 Quote Link to comment
510T
S12 200sx wheels here 15x6 +38, 195/45 front 205/45 rear: 195/45 in my opinion is too small for a 510 unless you are totally slammed. On the 200sx they came from there were mini center caps and outer trim rings if I remember correctly... Quote Link to comment
