my first 510 autoX car <3

Recommended Posts

Well i finally got my first 510 and its a 70 4dr. Not the color i wanted at first but she grew on my and now im not wanting to stray from the color. Im cleaning her right up. Going to put a L16 in her (better more built motor will come later ;-) then do all body work and metal replacing. Then paint and under carrage. I wanna take all the bolts out clean them up. Then when the body is clean im going to work on the suspension and running gear. I want to pull all the bushings out and replase them with new ones. My list of parts to get isnt too big so im lucky on that.

Very cool car. I love that color. Buy a clay bar and rub it out, it may shine right up. Welcome to the site and great 1st post. :) you even have pics :) we love pics! Those wheels will polish up nice, check out my build page, mine were worse than yours.

Looks great! My first 510 was orange!

I'm searching for replacement bushings right now for front steering and suspension. Having trouble finding an idler arm bushing and steering dust covers. I'll let you know when and where I find them. Andy's Auto has had a few parts, needed a front sway bar as mine did not have one. They also ordered me some control arm bushing, but it is going to take 4-5 weeks for them to get them.

Have fun with that and keep it orange

Lugs are M12x1.25. Look up on Summit racing.  They have many different styles to choose from.  Measure the depth the shank needs to be on the wheel (make sure the shank on the lug falls short of the overall depth/thickness on the wheel).  Also, measure the inside diameter of the lug hole on the wheel and find a lug that will fit inside that diameter, not too loose though.  I had three sets of aftermarket wheels, and I had to buy three different sets of lugs from Summit.  The McGuard, Gorilla and Summit brand lugs are fine quality... thus far.

Ok my budy that im geting the rims from sead that i dont need anything special. Just basic ones will fit in the holes on the rims. Like ya sead i need to measure the depth of the stub to see if i need hat lugs or not.

After further research, those XXR 501 wheels (assuming that's what they are) should be using a 60 degree conical seat lug nut.  So hopefully that's what your buddy means by "basic" lug nut.  60 degree conical seat is the standard "tuner lug nut".  Just make sure you don't get the OEM rounded, or radius lug nuts, like those found on Honda's and other cars.
