I just wanted to post my latest update. When I purchased my truck the guy I bought it off of told me that it had a patch job done to the passenger floor board, so I thought cool that was taken care of, but when I pulled the carpets up I was in for a surprise. the floor board was patched with a couple pieces of sheet metal held on with silicone. This was not cool I decided to cut it out and my friend helped me weld a coupe pieces of stainless steel, so no more rust.

I decided that I wanted to protect the truck a little more to prevent it from rusting in the future, so I took Jeff's advice and brushed some POR-15 on the floor pans. It is a 4 step process. First you prep the floors. Sand off all the loose rust.

Second, you use Marine Clean to degrease the metal and clean it off.

Third, you use a product called Prep and Ready to prepare the metal for painting. This chemical primers the metal.

Finally, you brush on the POR-15 and I must say that I am very happy with the results. This comes out with a glass like finish.

I decided to go ahead and paint my engine bay. I went with a product from Eastwood called Underhood Black Matte. It was easy to work with and I think it turned out Okay. Let me know what you think.

When I first got my truck this is how the engine bay looked like.

Thanks, a lot of people like the original colors better and, I think they look cool too, but I am trying to get my truck to look like the one I use to have. I hope yours comes out good. Please post some pictures when you get a chance. I would like to see your progress.

Me too, I can't wait to get them put on. Here is some other things I have done to my truck. I took the bed off to paint the back of the cab and front of the bed and when I took it off I decided to use the POR-15 on the frame of the bed and the under part of the bed. How does it look?
