mcordero8
When I was growing up my Dad past his 1972.5 Datsun 620 work truck on to me. This was my first vehicle. This was back when mini trucks were very popular in the early 90's. I fixed it up got it painted and made it look really nice. One morning I woke up to glass in my parking lot and it was gone. My truck had been stolen. Now I was not well off I worked very hard to get that truck fixed up and when it was taken from me I thought about it every day. This year I decided to purchase another one and I just want to post some pictures of my project. I am currently working on fixing up my 1973 Datsun 620 Pickup. She wasn't in the best shape but she is now starting to look a lot better. Let me know what you think %5BIMG%5Dhttp://i896.photobucket.com/albums/ac161/mcordero620/14-25_zps9b84d66b.jpg %5BIMG%5Dhttp://i896.photobucket.com/albums/ac161/mcordero620/14-19_zps290f13a4.jpg %5BIMG%5Dhttp://i896.photobucket.com/albums/ac161/mcordero620/14-14_zps2d59947e.jpg %5BIMG%5Dhttp://i896.photobucket.com/albums/ac161/mcordero620/20140118_111907_resized_zps93ce4e0f.jpg 2 Quote Link to comment

mcordero8
Thanks guys for all the positive feedback. My plans are to lower it just a little bit, paint it like a burgundy wine color like my old one and get the bed done with spray liner. I will post some pics of the progress. By the way I just scored some rims today on craigslist for $100 I think it was a good deal see the pics.%5BIMG%5Dhttp://i896.photobucket.com/albums/ac161/mcordero620/20140204_203741_resized_zps02ee2a4d.jpg %5BIMG%5Dhttp://i896.photobucket.com/albums/ac161/mcordero620/20140204_204427_resized_zps1876ea96.jpg 1 Quote Link to comment

mcordero8
Okay so I have been out for a while, but I have been shopping and have scored some really cool parts for my 73 620. See picsI bought a bezel on ebay wrapped it in vinyl carbon fiber. It came out okay20140212_052755_resized_1 by mcordero8, on Flickr20140308_084713_resized by mcordero8, on FlickrScored a chrome grill on ebay, when I received it looked a little rough but after a couple hours with the help of mothers polish and some elbow grease it came out nice.20140208_134209_resized_1 by mcordero8, on Flickr20140212_035341_resized_3 by mcordero8, on FlickrCut the curve on my stick shift t make it shorter.20140224_160800_resized_1 by mcordero8, on Flickr20140224_171825_resized_1 by mcordero8, on Flickr 1 Quote Link to comment
mcordero8
I also purchased a set of BMW Hella Ellipsoids from our local pick n pull to put on my 620. I just wanted to get some direction on how to connect these. I spoke to someone that has a 1978 620 Deluxe KC and he said he just connected it directly and it worked fine, but I have been looking at some of the 510 builds and 521 build and they add relays and fuses. Can someone please let me know if I have to add the relays and fuses to put the ellipsoids on my 73 620 truck?20140223_191751_resized by mcordero8, on Flickr Quote Link to comment
mcordero8
I modified the BMW Ellipsoids to fit the Datsun Buckets and installed them on to the truck. Next I have to do the electrical. Wish me luck.20140313_175702_resized by mcordero8, on Flickr20140314_185037_resized by mcordero8, on Flickr 2 Quote Link to comment
mcordero8
Well it took me a long time, but I am finally finished putting Herculiner on the bed of my 620. I made sure I prepared it well before I started putting it on. Let me know what you think. jvb5577
It looks good! How did you like the Herculiner? Quote Link to comment
mcordero8
I like the way it came out. I did a lot of prep work since it is a old truck, but over all it came out really nice. I looked at other roll on liners on the web and Herculiner seemed to be more the look I was going for. If you do decide to do it to your truck I recommend that you apply it early in the morning because it takes a long time to dry to apply the second cote. That's why my after picture is in the dark. Good Luck. Quote Link to comment

isomswim
I applied this on my 04 Colorado a while back before it was totaled. I remember stripping it down to the bare metal, did you do that or just scuff it up pretty good? Oh And it looks pretty good. Quote Link to comment
mcordero8
Thanks, on the rust spots I took it down to the bare metal, and where the paint looked pretty good I scuffed it really good. Here is a picture that I took in the day. You can get a better idea of how it came out. Again I am pretty pleased, but the prep time was a pain. 4 Quote Link to comment

WallRocket
Nice, looks like a pretty low rust truck! Quote Link to comment
mcordero8
The texture is pretty thick. I bought my kit at O'reillys and on the box it has a sample of how the texture is. I would say that it is pretty close to the sample on the box. If you are planning on doing it make sure you go down to Home Depot or Lowes and get one of those paint mixers you attach to a drill gun, so that the paint gets mixed really good before starting. I did this every time I would add paint to my pan and I think the texture came out pretty consistent. Now I am going to start on the inside floor boards. I do not know what to expect. I will post some before and after pics. wish me luck. Quote Link to comment
jvb5577
Alright thanks! Sounds like you really like it. For the floor boards I would use Por15 or something similar, not the bed liner. If keeping from rusting is what you are after. Quote Link to comment
mcordero8
I had my air dam spoiler fitted on my truck before she goes to paint, and I must say she is starting to look really good. I feel like I am getting my old truck back. 20140410_204118_resized by mcordero8, on Flickr 1 Quote Link to comment
