If you want go power you need low rpm torque to move a 4x4. Face it, the 720 is a very heavy brick for a small Z2.2... but it does have 4.375 diffs in it. In Oct.'82 the Z24 was introduced... but attempting to keep the mileage, 4.11 diffs were used. The larger 2.4 can pull them but it's a struggle.  If you want an easy swap that fits perfectly get a Z24. With your gears and a stump pulling130 ft lbs of torque I think you will like it.

If you want a 'built' motor get a stock KA24E or DE. It will bolt to your transmission but will need some oil pan mods... and it is EFI.

I did convert my Z24 to EFI,  which came from a 1982 200sx/Z22E,... notched the Z24 head to accept the injectors

It's an antiquated system and the some components started to calve...decided not to upgrade and slapped a 38/38 on it instead.
