The New Guy

This is my first post, hope I am in the right forum.  Just bought a 1969 510 for my twin boys.  It was my first car in 1983!!!  Since it is basically a shell with an engine and trans I'll be asking many questions along the way.  It goes to sand (Media Blasting) on the 31st and then to get primered!  My boys are 14 1/2 so I have 18 months to pull this off!!  Wish me luck.

RO510,

Our plans are to non-stock it. It came with a 1.6 in it and a 2.0 on the side. We plan on putting the 2.0 in it. The rear fenders have been -, for lack of a better word, f'd up. Not sure if someone tried to put BRE flares on it or what the plan was but to get them back to stock is really not an option unless I want to spend more $$$. I'm looking for a 5-speed. Plan on painting it VooDo0 blue. So i guess to answer yoour question, it will not be stock. Back in 1983-199-whatever, we put a 1.8 in mine and a 5 speed. But here is the problem, This car is for my twin boys. They are only 14 1/2. I want them to have a classic fun car, but then again....I remember what I did with my 510 when I was 16. glad I am still alive to send this post!!! If you know what I mean. So as much as I want to go crazy on the performance, I have to be a Dad at the same time. So we will see.

Roll cage, yes, good point!!!

Unless your going to buy both boys a new helmet don't do a cage. A rear bar over the back of the seat will be fine, But a cage is not a good idea for a street car.

And Welcome to Ratsun.
