Gryffinwings' Nissan 720 Project Lowered Truck

Recommended Posts

So a few months ago, I bought myself a 1984 Nissan 720 2WD Pickup Truck for $1200. When I got it, it ran ok, but was in need of a tune up. My plan is to get a lot of things fixed, get the engine running smoothly, before I consider lowering it. For now, here is a picture of my truck, I'll post more pictures in a bit.

So far I've completed the following:
-Oil Change (Chevron Delo 400 LE 15W40)
-Coolant Change
-Front lower and upper ball joints
-Valve Adjustment
-Spark Plug Change

I am contemplating using wheel adapters to change to a 5 bolt pattern so I can have more options for wheels. Only problem will be figuring out what size I want.

Well here's what I pulled out of my engine, when I pulled out my plugs to replace them with brand new NGK V-Power, I'm surprised the engine worked as well as it did, most of the spark plugs had a bit of soot on them and had some kind of grit on them.

Who would ever use Champion spark plugs, anyways changed these out for some good ole NGK V-Power plugs.

I'm thinking the cleanliness of the engine will get better with fluid changes and good fuel that I will be using. Currently using Chevron Delo 400 15W40, only time will tell, I am tempted to try Auto RX to see if that helps a bit.

Nice truck!

Thank you

x2!

Thank you

Diggin' it. ;)

and Thank you!

Yep, just trying to get her looking good, the hard parts to find are going to be a tailgate and that part under the tailgate in the correct color, since I don't see many 720s in the yards and this was the first time I have ever seen my color in the junk yards. Next I'll be dialing in my brakes, it seems that my drums are a bit loose, found out after I flushed and I had to double pump my brakes to work properly.

So I'm finally back from deployment, and finally restarted my project, got home and found I couldn't start her, so the only thing I hadn't changed in the ignition system was the cap and rotor, replaced and it starts no problem. Now I'm working on restoring my bench seat, not a fan of the Isuzu Rodeo seats, that don't fit very well. So let the fun begine, I started by removing the ratty covers and foam, I also had to get the rear bar welded up too. Will post up the welded section a little later.
