MattyHacks' Bamboo Tan 510

Recommended Posts

I finally got myself a 510  I had a WTB ad up on the local classifieds and this lady emailed me saying she had one she wanted to sell. She was the second owner of this 4 door sedan, column shift automatic, 83,706 original miles, tan with brown interior. Body work was done 10 years ago and the husband never got it running again after, so the body is in great shape and the car is rust free. It doesn't run, and because it has been sitting it will need some work to get it back on the road. Anyways on to the oics!

Thanks for all the positive feedback guys!

Plans?

Short term: Get it running driving and stopping. Carbs getting no fuel. Need brakes, brake master and probably lines. Needs carpet too.

Long term: l20 4 speed, black interior. I want it lowwww (like the slammed kind of low) but also want to auto cross it so possibly coil overs.

wow super clean looking and bamboo tan is awesome

Thanks Ranman! It is pretty clean over all, it was never driven after it was painted so that helps, but it isn't perfect. They replaced the front passenger fender with a fiberglass one which bugs me :sneaky: and its got some dins here and there from random carport clumsiness.

This is proof that unmolested barn cars are still out there. Awesome find!

I do not agree with the plans for a black interior tho. :/ if you do change it please don't dye it. Trade for black, I'm sure someone will want to swap to brown.

I was indeed planning to dye it  :geek: But that's a great idea thanks!

Sick car!  That perfect brown interior is not to be touched.  Black is common.  And brown goes with the paint so well.

But it's your car.  I'm just jealous, and telling you what I would do.

Haha no worries. I've just always HATED brown interior! And its not even a nice brown, its like weird marble, granddad's foot stool kinda shit...... I'll think about it  ;)

Ok so since I'm a newb I'll need some Ratsun help. Like I mentioned before the car never ran after it was painted. Here are some pics of the Weber, I have no idea what kind of Weber it is so lets play guess that carb!

As you can see the choke cable is just randomly floating in the middle of the bay. I always thought if you went with a Weber you changed over to electric choke (correct?) And I don't see any wiring going to the carb so I'm a little confused about the whole set up PO Joe has got goin on here.

This fuel line is capped off (Return line?) Is this the correct thing to do?

I also feel that there should be a filter there judging by the look of that clamp and its proximity to the split in the fuel line

Also this kinked ass (vacuum?) line

Hacked wiring

Also these two connectors behind the drivers side headlights

Thanks in advance for the help
