I'd use a windshield urethane to repair it.  But if the entire seal is hard or cracked, I'd be tempted to go ahead and replace it.

I've got the Thailand made gasket, with no issues yet.  I've heard both good and bad about them.

I know im bringing up an old thread but this awesome!  iv'e been dealing with this all day and trying to figure it out.  A quick run to canadian tire to pick up some rtv and just to put my mind at ease about the product i do a quick search on here and its all been figured out all ready.  Now just to get it dry enough to apply....

RTV sucks and is only fit foe chevy intake manifolds. It's weak and soft, wont stand up. Get black polyurethane rubber or windshield sealer in a tube. Crap tire has this. Get the tubes that fit a caulking gun it's cheaper. It dries hard like tire rubber. RTV silicone is more like jelly.

Don't get on hands, it smears and makes a hell of a mess, unbelievable mess. Wear rubber gloves. I also got a tube from an auto glass place. The guy gave me one because he was pissed at his boss. Same thing.
