sidewayzvegan
YoYo I finally made an account after creepin around for a while because it is time to start fixin my 620. The truck had a Dana 27 axle in the front and it was done kinda funky, a steering arm snapped and now im ready to throw a bunch at it and put on toyota front and rear axles. I am going to put a high steer on it, a trunion bearing eliminator, v6 4runner dual piston calipers, land cruiser rotors, and more to come. I have a chunk of the parts and the rest of them should be coming this week. I will try and get some pics up tomorrow of the trucks undercarriage, the toyota front end, parts etc. correction, I can't figure out how to load the pics, any advice and Ill bring yall pics...... wayno
You have the account, so up on the left hand corner of the photo there are a bunch of boxes, twitter, facebook, ect, on the right side of them boxes is a box that looks like a chain link, click on that box and choose the IMG code at the bottom, then paste it in your reply. sidewayzvegan
I am going Toyota with it because it seems fitting to try and keep it mostly Japanese and Toyota's make a solid axle. Today we got a lot done on the truck, and I am going to upload all the pictures I have for today to show my progress. More to come soon. Quote Link to comment
sidewayzvegan
Alright so day one on this project went great, we got a lot done and are mostly done with the axle. I hope to get you some pics of the truck and what it has soon, but here is the axle build so far. Its going to be burly and ready to crawl when its done.......... Heres the axle with dirt and grease mostly intact, I did a few hours of cleaning prior to this pic, but this is the starting point. Here are some of the parts including the Truss, Gusset, High steer arms, and trunion bearing eliminator. Pressing in the trunion bearing eliminator in steering arms More of my burly high steer kit Alright, plasma torched the parts we don't need and prepped it for welding. Tacked the gusset and truss on there and ready to do the welds fully Heres the welds mostly done in the front, nice Now to reinforce the wheel stoppers with these little peices of steel. firey hot melting em on there Welded up and got the differential and axles out and cleaned up heres the differential cleaned up welding the spider gears little gas fire Here she is welded shut differential back in and now getting these knucks back on getting the knuckles shimmed up right All shimmed up and ready for the next steps, but we ran out of day. Good first days work and I will post more when I have em. 2 Quote Link to comment

jesusno2
Sometimes after welding those trusses in that axle shaft on that side can be a real pain in the dick to get back together. Quote Link to comment
Cpl620
blah, your truck makes me want 4x4 back in my life. clean work so far. Quote Link to comment

sidewayzvegan
Thanks guys. I have not put the axle back in yet so we will see how hard it is, hopefully not too bad. Quote Link to comment
sidewayzvegan
I also want to give a shout out to Jordan Booth for helping me with all this, my neighbor/ buddy and bad ass truck builder/ metal fabricator. If any of yall are in the santa cruz area and want someone to build you a sick truck he is the man for it. Quote Link to comment
sidewayzvegan
As a follow up, the picture that I posted earlier is this same truck before I bought it, so I thought I would post some pics of it in its current state. It runs great and once this axle is built and thrown in and I put a Toyota rear axle it is going to be a different creature.... notice the pinner Dana 27 compared to the yota axle.. dont mind the junk, but do notice the awesome custom rear bubble window.... sidewayzvegan
With some hunting around this forum I found a thread that a previous owner did on my truck that better shows why I am doing all this work on my truck. there are a few upgrades since this thread, but its pretty close to the same. http://community.ratsun.net/topic/15455-620-4x4-need-info-on-front-axle/ Quote Link to comment
Boxcar
Nice job on the Yota axle. Jeez , we are going to have to start a Datsun / Nissan 4x4 section on this sight if we aren't careful. You're plan is a good one and should work out fine. Good looking 620. 1 Quote Link to comment

sidewayzvegan
Alright, got the shafts in and the front end put together. I also got an IFS rear end, a toyota ifs steering box, and the springs. I now have just about everything to get moving on the fab work. Pics coming tomorrow 1 Quote Link to comment
Boxcar
What year is your front axle? If gen.#1 then the IFS rear will be a bit wide.... Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
The 'Yoda front is about an inch wider per side so I assume the rear is too. On my 620 it was so tall and had such large tires you couldn't tell it had the narrower H-190 Datsun axle in it. It was gaining a lot of weight though and the L20B really wasn't up to the job.
