If you used your illegally concealed weapon to disarm an armed assailant (that's what we called them before the terrorist buzzword), and they fired you, I'd be surprised.

and if I wasn't, the next day/week (probably within a month) they would conduct a search of my person and belongings to see if I was still carrying to work.

 

They wouldn't let the matter drop until they found a way to fire me

It gets really bad when the shop steward is all buddy buddy with the owners, there is a shop in my area that is like that and 70% of the guys that worked there didn't even know they could elect a new shop steward, or what the shop steward was for.

Shouldn't all of the employees and owners be buddy buddy. That seems like a good goal to me. I would hate working for someone I don't like.

Since it's Halloween,  I think this is cool to post! People react to watching "The Exorcist" for the first time in theaters forty years ago. What was YOUR reaction? I was a child when it come on TV in 1980 and I watched it, scared the crap out of me!

I agree but the problem always is the big wigs want more $ for less $ and the works want more. On very rare occasions there is more of a balance, usually stemming from a level headed owner that isn't overly greedy.

A level headed owner. There in does lie the solution. But largely, the problem is found in employees not willing to walk off the job, or take less compensation. Be better than anyone else willing to work for what you get paid. That's what I try for. One day, I'll be big boss man I hope
