That's sick.

Reminds me of a story.

Many years ago I had this nice beach cabin on the shoreline of the beautiful Puget Sound. Since rent is steep I had ot take on a roommate. So this buddy of mine moves into the spare room. At the time I had a black cat.

My buddy didn't like cats. He devised devious and sadistic things to do that annoyed the cat. He spread newspaper everywhere on the floor one time. The cat went crazy. Another time he lured the cat into a picnic basket somehow and then closed and weighted the lid. The dude was constantly messing with the cat.

One weekend we had a party, chicks from town, keg of beer, live band, bonfire on the beach. Somehow I got ash from the fire in my eyes and had to go to the ER. Spent a week with patches over my eyes. Let me tell ya, when you are suddenly without sight, the world sucks.

During the week of total blindness the cat had a date with the vet. I asked my buddy to take me and the cat to the vet. He reluctantly agreed. So we are rolling down the road into town. I never used a cat carrier for the cat, I felt it was inhumane. After all, how would you like it if someone crammed your ass into a tiny box and tossed you into the back seat where you couldn't see the world going by? I know I wouldn't like it. So I always let the cat ride how she liked. Sometimes she would ride on the package shelf above the back seat, watching the world go by. Other times she would curl up on my shoulders and neck, between my head and the headrest on the seat. I really liked that. Black cats have very soft fur, and it feels nice.

Anyway, the cat tries the package tray, but for some reason on that day she didn't like it there.

So she headed to the shoulders of the person driving the car.

My buddy.

My roommate the sadistic cat torturer.

He tensed up.

"Get that fucking cat off of me!" he screeched.

I looked over just as she settled down and looked at me. I told him, "Relax, she likes to ride there".

"I don't like this." he hissed.

About that time the cat arched up and started to knit with her front feet. On his shoulders. I am sure it was breaking the skin though his t-shirt. He tensed up even more.

And then the cat pissed down the back of his neck.

I laughed so hard my side hurt.

After emptying her bladder she hopped into my lap, sat down and looked up at me, purring.

The dude quit fucking with my cat after that.

Jackass.

I'm not a "cat lover" however that is not meaning I have any dislike for them, just prefer dogs but anything animal cruelty or that sort of shit I do not abide at all.

These RC guys are building some awesome planes these days. A long way from the balsa wood and tissue paper with a Cox .049 on a control line that I used to build and fly.

I'm not much for cats either. This one adopted me. She was born feral to a feral mother, in a friends garage, behind a deep freeze. The mother got down behind the freezer (a chest type, not upright) between a couple of the wall studs. They were done nursing, but the mother was having difficulty getting them out from the cavity. Everyone agreed that they needed to come out, but no one wanted to do it. I put on a welder's leather coat, and the long welder's gloves and fetched all the kittens out. We were dropping them into a large cardboard box but I dropped the black one on the floor by accident. She stayed right by my feet so I just let her be.

The mother was pretty pissed when we were doing this, but eventually settled down. She had gone into the rafters to hiss and growl while I plucked her brood, but came around after we left. The kittens were pretty much weaned by then, and the one by my feet continued to follow me around as we drank beer and looked at the kittens. So when I left she left with me.

She was tough. Living on the beach the neighbor's dogs would roam freely. This cat put them all in their place, ran them all off. She killed and partially consumed a young duck one spring. And always with the 'gifts' for me, a shrew or mouse, sometimes a snake.

Years later I was living in the foothills not far from where I live now. The cat was always an outside cat, except when she wanted to be in the house. (I never had a catbox, she always asked to be let out, like a good dog) She headed out on a hunt one day and never came back. I never figured out if it was old age, a bobcat or cougar, or an eagle.

Who knows?

I had a dog. Long story too. Some other time maybe.

A photo though.

I was skeptical of the 10k oil changes too.. but I sent the oil out to a lab and they confirmed, no issues. The oil was well within spec, and contained very low amounts of fuel. They recommended going even further out actually. So now I just change at 10k.

Sounds like you and I think alike. Except for I haven't made the 10k oil change leap just yet. Definitely believe your oil test results and appreciate it Draker. Maybe one day (been doing the 3k oil changes since I was 11 ? So about 20-years until this very point). Never had a new car either until this truck.

Thank you.

The interval on my ISB is 7,500. Before I bought it I usually changed oil ever 3,000 miles or once a year, whichever comes first. Except the race car. It gets fresh oil for every race. After getting the Dodge I changed to 5k intervals. Oil is cheap.

That shit is like water, isn't it? Mrs. Racer 2.0 bought a brand new 2013 Corolla. When I looked to see what it took I was floored. Then I bought some and changed the oil. I swear water is more viscous.

Manual?

Tundra's interval is 10k with 8.9 filled to the eye balls oil capacity. I have always changed my oil at 3k too. Yeah , I like to change it about once year if it sits as well. I myself....have moved to 5k intervals (cut factory 10k recommendation in half) with the Yota (dropped out first oil at 4,800). I may end up stretching it out between changes , but I've been doing it (not too mention the mindset) the old way so long.,,.it would be hard to break. Probably send my own samples out like Draker suggested earlier to feel a bit at ease about it.

0w-20 is definitely like water... I was nervous as hell about using it (despite manufacturer specs) as its the first rig I've owned that's called for it. Very pleased with how well she's done with it so far. Can be harder to see on the dipstick for sure.

Sadly not a manual trans.... interestingly enough a couple people I know work for Toyota. Flatcat said these were good trucks to. Before I bought the truck, they said this generation of 5.7 is a good solid truck/bugs worked out.. Was happy to hear that. I walked into a local tranny shop that is always booked to the eyeballs with work. I've known and trust the owner from several souraces including my own direct experience. I wanted to know how much a tranny fluid swap (not flush or drain/fill) was...he informed me to leave it until needs to be changed or change every 50k (synthetic or semi-synthetic ? Idk) if towing/hauling also.... *if* I choose to do so (good solid common sense no ?)

Then before I asked him how many of these came in for repair or common issues....he walked me around the corner and hit his keyless entry. A 2013 tundra is what he owns and says toyota's rarely come into his shop and the 6spd was definitely a good one. Kinda interesting , but at the end of the day it's just another truck I suppose.
