RatVonDude
Does 5 weeks seem a little long for a motorcycle mechanic to diagnose an electrical problem and order the part from Nevada? Quote Link to comment
paradime
All depends on wether the bike in question is Japanese or Italian. "Italian" is actually the universal symbol for 6 to 8 Week. What shop do you have it in? Quote Link to comment
RatVonDude
Japanese. 86 Suzuki gsxr. Quote Link to comment
paradime
5 week? Parts for the 86 Gixer are still stocked by Suzuki is it not. The shop should have been able to replaced the entire electrical harness in two days. Sounds suspect to me. Quote Link to comment
RatVonDude
It was the main electrical box, he ordered it used cuz the new ones are like "$800" damn, I'm kinda sick of waiting. Who would you recommend? Quote Link to comment
paradime
No doubt, the best place I know is Mountains Garage in San Leandro. 15900 E 14th b/t 159th Ave & 160th Ave (510) 606-7546 They do cars and bikes but they are knowledgable fast and honest. Stay the hell out of manufacturer's shops in the East Bay. None are worth their price, and they all think their shit don't stink. 1 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
I won't bore you to death with a bunch of scientific jargon, but it has been proven that marijuana does not kill brain cells (by real neurologists, not someone trying to push a weed agenda). Hell, the human brain has cannabinoid receptors built into it already. There is a time and place for anything like that of course, but as far as damage done to the body and to others, weed is not even on the same map as booze. So many people have a story about someone they knew who was such a loser because of all the pot he or she smoked. The cold, hard and rude fact is...no, you know a person who is a loser, that just happens to smoke pot as well. I think perhaps my drinking days are over, I just can't deal with what it does to me anymore. I'm getting soft. The latest thinking is that you can regrow brain cells. It was always thought that we slowly kill off the finite set we are born with and simply 'act old'. Apparently we can grow new ones with a proper diet that encourages this regrowth. I always had bad hangovers, always. In my forties I quit drinking over several years, don't miss it one bit. 1 Quote Link to comment

I've read up that having a heroin addiction is easier on your body than alcoholism, Also there is no such thing as a "crack baby" Quote Link to comment
paradime
I've read up that having a heroin addiction is easier on your body than alcoholism, Also there is no such thing as a "crack baby" TRUE. alcoholism is harder on the body than heroin addiction. No such thing as Crack Babies though? Tell that one to the folks at Oaktown Childers. Although there are studies that have shown there are less long term effects as once thought, that is not the same as saying there is no such thing. Cocaine travels through the mother's blood fetal barrier. The child of a crack using mother is born addicted to that drug, and if they don't receive detoxification treatment the baby can die. There may not be the dramatic long term effects as children born with Alcohol syndrome, but there are consistent long term deficits of visual attention and executive functioning with crack exposed children. Spend some time in an inner city maternity ward and you'd see what I'm talking about. Quote Link to comment

Royal Sierra
I've read up that having a heroin addiction is easier on your body than alcoholism, Also there is no such thing as a "crack baby" My ex gf turned into a heroin addict, and after a few months I ran into her and holy shit man, she had lost a bunch of weight, face was thin, voice had changed, and I was around her when she quit and went through withdraws for 3 days and was sweating, puking, even siezures. I was drunk for probably a year straight and not once did I go through anything remotely close to anything she had. Plus all the bacterial bs that can happen from using needles, like heart infections, not including the obvous ones like aids and hep c. Not by any means saying alcohol is harmless.. MicroMachinery
Heroin worse on your body that Alcohol? I call bs. paradime
Heroin addicts typically die of an over dose, a needle infection with hepatitis / AIDS, or poor self care. not from any inherent toxicity of the drug. I think you are confusing physical dependency with toxicity. The fact is, there are natural opiate receptors in the brain. Alcohol on the other hand is toxic, and literally eats the liver. One of my best friends drank himself to death. You should have seen what he went through. 3 days detox is a cake walk in comparison. Quote Link to comment
smoke
When they say (scientist being they) that alcohol is harder on you than heroin, they don't pick one thing or even two, it's the entire package, the drugs are on a scale of 0 to 100. Such as, so many points to how many people you kill with your car, crime you commit on a drug, violence, effects on the mind, effects on your family and a very long list of things. Booze scored like a mid 70s score, things like heroin was mid 50s. The simple fact that we even need to debate whether or not booze is as bad as heroin speaks volumes about the class that alcohol falls into. Anyone who has dealt with a TRUE alcoholic (not just someone who drinks a lot, big difference) knows it's a fuckin nightmare. Same with heroin. The big difference being, most of the time, alcoholics don't even admit to themselves or others that there may be an issue. After all, how could it be all that bad when we see commercials for it on tv right? When someone is shooting heroin, that person knows there is an issue most of the time. Quote Link to comment

smoke
Sort of a bad comparison really. Beer can be bought for cheap (or stolen) from 7-11. That and plenty of dick sucking has taken place because of booze, for free. Quote Link to comment
paradime
Aaaah Smoke :bye: .... I am a scientist. There is a distinction made between "social" effect and "physical" effect of a drug. Quote Link to comment
