Next up is making a brake booster from a 80s Toyota pickup fit (Because I have one). Some of you may have noticed the driver side tub is not welded to the firewall, I will fabricate space for the booster.

yeh I plan on rigging up a latch of some kind, will not be too hard. The lines looked better with the flap installed that way round.

It was nice to get it off the Ibeams and see it another 100mm lower.

Thanks for the comments.

Today was spent tackling some rust spots. There was a little more than expected when I pulled the windscreen out. Luckily I have some spare steel to help.

Drivers side - behind the dash, rather ugly

The replacement sheet metal off the 520 looks like it just ran off the line

Replaced the whole area thats bare metal

Passenger Side - Again a fair amount of rust behind the dash area. There was a fair amount of work to get the trimmed rust repairs to match up, as it meant matching both the inside and outside skins

Everyone loves a Monday off work, when the wife is at work and the little one is at the grandparents house!!!

Today I finished the rust repairs on the windscreen and replaced the lower sections of both guards.

A good reason not to use masking tape to mark out your cut lines FAIL

Windscreen finished, but some rust around the wiper cowl ready to be replaced

Some hidden rust, that was also repaired

Thanks guys,

The billets have been floating around the workshop since i bought them 6 years ago, they need to be re polished as they are covered in shit. The wheels have been a curse for a couple of projects now.

I am really confused at the moment with getting the body mounted correctly. I am 15-20mm lower on the passenger side, but i can't figure out why. THe passenger side is to the measurements I originally calculated. Everything has been squared, braced and jigged up when welding and all the panels line up. I can't find anything holding up the drivers side. Its going to be something small but its one of those thing where you adjust one mount and it changes everything and it is time consuming with  no gain. I am using new nylon body mounts I had machined up, as appose to the old rubber mounts used previously. The chassis is slightly different side to side from factory, but not that much!! Fucking annoying

Next weekend I plan on finishing behind the guards and move onto the doors. The doors on the truck are in great condition, so they will be transferred across, with only a couple of minor repairs needed.

The lower rear quarters are rusted out fairly badly. I am hoping I will be able to match some of the compound curves with some sheet metal off the roof of the truck. fingers crossed.

funnily enough I am not being as anal as I have been in the past on this build, I actually want to finish this one within 6 years :) Its been almost 2 years worth of Saturdays now.  Still a few more to go.

Looks like Facebook have changed something again and all the photos have disappeared again.

It kills me a little that its not laying body, especially with going to all the effort of a 3" body drop, however no chassis are permitted in the state I live in, previous rides have been notched, but i don't want this to be in line for a scrap heap if I am pulled over and inspected by the Five 0. Still not a bad effort for no notch and 19" billets.

I hear you on falling short of laying body. I did a C-notch, custom lengthened LCA's, driveline tunnel, exhaust tunnel, yada yada yada. I lay front subframe, arms and rear leafspring hangers, but rockers are 1.5 to 2" off ground... It is still awesome tho. The only way to really lay body in these unibody rigs seems to be full floor removal and custom frame... Which seems to me to lead to way more time & $$$. I'm stoked to see you have the ability to go there but have decided to keep your project managable. Finished, drivable and brutally low are awesome goals. Love seeing the progress!
