When you finally locate what is purported to be a "1600 air filter", make sure it's for a roadster type R 1600 engine, not an RL411 Type R air filter [or a 510 filter]. The roadster filter element is about an inch longer than the RL411 sedan filter due to engine compartment fitment issues. The RL411 filter is rarer, but if that's all you can find, it will fit inside the roadster air filter housing but the sealing gaskets may not give an effective seal. You need a good seal so that the hose from the valve cover [substitute for a PCV valve, there's a condenser plate inside the valve cover] will dump its crud on the outside of the air filter and not gum up your Hitachi SU carbs.

Yep, ad check on 311s.org, there is a round F-150 filter that with a  few small cuts can be made to run the oval racetrack quite easily.

Welcome, nice car, and cool pic effect.  I work in El Segundo daily, and sometimes drive my roadster to work, so let me know if you have time at lunch time and want to check out each others rides.

Note: my "lunch" is at 10am !!!
