I'm BLUE
random pic 040 by 71240z, on Flickr The cranks shaft counterweight (rod side) ends are a little blue ..... #$%# .... So yeah... all the Main and rod bearings are beyond spec (too big) according to plasti-gauge. All bearings indicate they are "Nissan STD xxxxxxxxx" size on the back of each one. Next step .... (Option 1) = out comes the crank for real measuring with micrometer's... then off to machinist for machining (Option 2) = measure my spare crankshaft again.... then take my spare crank that looks to need only a polish to the machinist in place of this one and swap them out. That's all for now working on multiple things at the same time :) BLUE 1 Quote Link to comment

I'm BLUE
did the same procedure basically to the rear main cap (one more piece of tubing length and a 24" pry bar involved)... came off fairly easily really.034 by 71240z, on Flickr031 by 71240z, on Flickr032 by 71240z, on Flickr033 by 71240z, on Flickr Quote Link to comment

I'm BLUE
Ordered a set of main crankshaft bearings L28et Order Main Rod bearings by 71240z, on Flickr and a set of connecting rod bearings. L28et Order Con Rod bearings by 71240z, on Flickr I already have a full Fel-Pro gasket set for this engine. I also have a new(been sitting around) Beck/Arnley Timing set to install on this already on hand. 002 by 71240z, on Flickr Had been trying to decide honestly if I want to hone/re-ring the engine , but the compression numbers are too good... to dink with yet the time to do so is now if I'm going to do it. I found some Grant piston rings for like $40 shipped or something like that-ish. They've been fine in the past. Looking at other brands as well. I'll have to think on piston rings if at all.. for the standing moment , and I have some time to decide in between while the bearings ship + I work on other stuff non-related. That's it for now BLUE Quote Link to comment
