Ha yeah, there are two versions since there are two movies. Im sure a lot of the cars added to the Nic Cage movie werent original... especially since they probably werent even made then haha

Is this better since it doesnt have 40 fog lights?

So, we are taking one of thses chassis, and we are putting a Honda J30 V6 into it with an S2000 transmission and several hundred HP. My buddy is starting the project in about 4 weeks. He has been deciding what kit to go with. The car is gonna be sick. He is considering turning the rear into IRS. First Honda V6 powered AC, I think were gonna call it the JC Cobra. Pics will be posted once the project begins.

No I am not joking, Totally serious here.

Is there a reason why?

fun!

The J30 can hold some serious power according to the guys at HASPORT. The best thing is that its very cheap. As far as I know it will be the first AC chassis with a light Honda motor in it. A Cobra chassis is lighter than an s2000. And the weight balance is just as good or better in the Cobra.

It will be pretty crazy, probably set up for track, not sure though.

Interesting. Is there some sort of conversion out there to make it RWD or is your friend keeping it FWD?

HAHAHA, The first thing I said was "we should make it FWD too just to fuck with people" But if you read my first comment I said we were using the S2000 Transmission, which would make it rear wheel drive. Custom adapter plate and mounts will likely be made by someone local.

The 427 or even the 289 that came it the ac originally can hold a ton of power too, and the car is already setup for it.

An IRS fwd ac would be pretty weird to drive, not to mention a total waste of engineering ability....

Well first the car was originally powered by a british inline 6, since it is a british kit car, and was long before Shelby got a hold of one. And a kit Cobra  comes set up for either engine, plus a few others, and it comes with no mounting set up if you want it that way.

It wouldnt be FWD as I said, S2K tranny, adapter plate, ect......

Also I dont see how that would be a waste of engineering ability. FWD has many advantages. Not saying I would do a FWD Cobra, but the "FWD vs RWD" debate is kinda as stupid and immature as the "carbs vs EFI" debate, except its more like your debating "EFI vs EFI". My Buddy Phil, he kills Corvettes and Evos in his Si, not to mention half the Ferrari, NSX and other "fast cars" on the track. Driver skill is more than which wheels of the vehicle are driven.

Ah yeah I missed that... its early haha. Should be a cool project if youre into Honda engines.

The car vs efi debate is immature because there are logical points to both sides, the fwd vs rwd debate is pointless cause rwd is far superior

Meh, to you maybe. I have owned all drivetrains, I dont find that true. and lets not start either debate. I feel your wrong about both.

Particularly with racing/track experience.

If it was about superiority then we'd be talking about AWD.

FWD has it's advantages but when vehicle weights and driver ability are the same you always bet on RWD for the track.

But if we were truly interested superiority we'd be on some other forum, but we are here because we love Datsuns & J-tin or we're brokeass and ended up with some cheap piece of shit that we have fallen in love with or need help with.

I have read of AWD Porsches and Lamborghinis be converted to RWD only but never FWD.

As much as I love this argument let's get back on topic. I'm sure there is a FWD vs RWD thread already

A bunch of people convert audis, subis etc to fwd and rwd. It makes sense it would run a lap faster on a circuit track since the drive line loss is lessened and if rear drive line removed lighter. If it was a rally track, where awd is better suited, that lap time would undoubtedly be slower for the fwd variant.

have you heard about the awd audi that they converted to fwd, made it major wide and tested in on the nurburgring? it ran the lap faster then when it was awd. ill try to find the article about it

dis!

Converted to FWD instead of RWD because thats how the setup is, front trans mounted, I have heard of an Evo being done this way too.

6 seconds slower then an R8!!!! 6 freaking seconds! on Nurburgring that is NOTHING And its faster in the wet (big surprise)

Imagine that car, except a Honda Civic Si, and that is basically what My friends rape Corvettes, and Evos with at the track.

Just wait until the new CTR comes out. Honda is out to be the fastest front wheel drive production car ever on Nurburgring.
