Psycho Killer 521

Recommended Posts

Some of you may notice that this truck is very similar to another thread and it is because they are one in the same. I am finally getting around to starting a thread of my own for this build.

I bought the truck in January from a guy who had done an SR20 install but stopped before finishing it. I picked it up and have been working on it ever since. I decided to pull the motor out and apart to put in some fresh new parts. That is pretty much where I am at this point, I've done some light body work and prepping the truck for the motor to go back in.

Hey i was checking out your pictures and it just stopped, wtf.lol

Ha ha ha, yea, that is where I am now. This afternoon I am going up to the shop to see the progress being made on the block and head. Taking the main caps down there today so we can start line boring and finally start putting shit together instead of taking it apart. I'll have pictures up tonight as soon as I get back.

Lately I've been looking in to putting a Z32 transmission in the truck to handle the power that one day will be brought forth from the depths of the SR. I found one for $350. My issue is forking over the extra $1000 for the adapter kit. Then again, it could be well worth it in the long run.

Just got back from the shop and everything is going well. The block came back from Darton 60/1000ths too small so it'll have to be bored again. The head was flow tested and right now is getting the valve job among other things done. I'm excited to see how much more flow the head will have after all of the work is done. In about 3 to 4 weeks time the engine should be fully built and ready to go back in the truck. I haven't even thought about what an occasion it'll be when that happens. I've been thinking about individual parts orders as milestones up until now that one of the major (and most expensive) components is so close to being done! After the motor is back in the list reads; brakes, suspension and chassis stiffening in no particular order. I don't have a timeline for this because I want to do it right, but I would assume that I am about 4 months away from having an operational truck! Now pictures.....

Here are the results from the first flow test, with some extra scribbles...

Has anyone twin charged a Datsun yet? I was just taking a stroll outside in this lovely SoCal weather and the idea of twin charging my truck materialized in my stupid head. I'm going to look in to it because that would be AWESOME! In the most genuine definition of the word

EDIT: Quick web search reveals a twincharged Datto 1200 and a CA18!

Do it you pussy.lol

I think I might, did some reasearch and found a bulletproof option that is nearly universal. Obviously a lot of fab work ahead if I decide to gather up all of my manhood to pull the trigger... I'm going to take the next few days to look at it as a serious option. Sooo so juicy, borderline exotic....

  • 3 weeks later...

Just a quick update: The motor will be done in about two weeks time and then in the truck it goes. The real big news is I got my supercharger in today!!! It is a Yota SC14 roots type supercharger. Positive displacement of 1420cc, can make boost spinning in either direction and has an electromagnetic clutch which is the best thing considering the twin charging that will soon be happening! It came on Yotas from the Supra to Previa ha ha  Anyway, figuring out the logistics shouldn't be too hard. I think matching the turbo for the supercharger and the motor will be the toughest part. I think it is very achievable to want to make a seamless 20ish psi. Next update I'll have the motor back for some good pornage

Here is the main unit. I checked the clutch by hand and did a quick rotation to make sure it was creating pressure and vacuum. Everything checks out so far.

These are some of the pipes and throttle body that came with it. Some cutting and fab can get it mated to the motor, I'm going to switch out the throttle body though. Definitely going to need something bigger.
