distributorguy
Who pays for this site? Why can't this site host photos??? 1 Quote Link to comment
]2eDeYe
Icehouse pays for the site. This site has no advertising and no other BS, this keeps costs down and the forum simple for the owner and the users. 4 Quote Link to comment
DanielC
"Who pays for this site? Why can't this site host photos???" "Icehouse pays for the site. I cannot stand other auto forum sites that do have advertising. 4 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
I was talking to Jeff and was amazed at how much he does pay per year to keep it going. Yes there are cheaper options but... well I'm just glad we have what we have. 3 Quote Link to comment

Yes there are cheaper options but... well I'm just glad we have what we have. I know of a few forums where the hosting is paid in most part by the Site Owner and then there's some subscriptions made available if members want to chip in on an annual basis. Supporting the ones that I use a lot is dollars well spent in my view. 3 Quote Link to comment
]2eDeYe
I created a how to thread that shows how to purge yourself of photobucket. http://community.ratsun.net/topic/72355-how-to-photobucket-purge/ The first post deals with downloading your pics from PB and uploading to your own server. The second post shows how to replace you PB pics with the pics from your new server or pic host. It's not too bad really and the hardest part is remembering where you posted all your pics in order to fix the links. I have a lot of editing to do.... :( 1 Quote Link to comment
difrangia
Not the first time this photo hosting disaster has happened to me. In the early days of Ebay (I registered in on Ebay in early 1998) a photo hosting service needed to be used to add photos to your listing. I had a freebie hosting service 'Cease to Exist' on me. Not long after that Ebay started hosting listing photos. 'No Free Lunch'; not forever anyway. 1 Quote Link to comment

wayno
I guess I thought something else, like I could remove my albums from PB and put them somewhere else using a certain code then everything would just work again. I have thousands of photos posted on here using Photolame, I seriously doubt if I will ever fix any of them, it would take weeks. If I really needed the photos replaced, I would pay them(PB) to restore my photos, then one by one I would go thru my threads and replace them with another hosting service photo, as it would be much easier to see what belonged there without having to click on each photo and deal with Photolame, and then I would drop photolame the next year. I have all my photos on my computer, every time I get new computer I have all my photos transferred over to it, although the last time didn't work so well, as windows10 screwed up some of them and they are filed differently, that is why I have not turned on that computer in several months now, every time Microsoft comes out with a new operating system it's a step backwards. thisismatt
You would need to change the URL of every photo post. eg if it was http://www.photobucket.com/sdlfjsdl/ldfjsdlfjewf/my_picture.jpg you would need to edit every post and change it to http://www.yournewsite.com/whatever_sub_directory_path/my_picture.jpg 3 Quote Link to comment
thisismatt
I'm guessing if one had site admin privileges, there would possibly be a way to bulk find/replace all your URL's and make it easy. Quote Link to comment

If the file name is still the same you don't even need to see the picture, you just paste the new path before it as thisismatt posted. I'm guessing if one had site admin privileges, there would possibly be a way to bulk find/replace all your URL's and make it easy. That would be awesome. 1 Quote Link to comment
FrankRizzo
And I was just starting reaping the benefits of the Redeye-recommended "Ghostery" program butslamming the photoreamers massive adverts. It was fun for about two weeks watching the counter hitting 20+ . 1 Quote Link to comment
