thisismatt
I said before that I would allow people to use my site for hosting pictures, but I am not into web development and wouldn't really know where to start, nor do I have the time to figure it out. If the ratsun site admin was interested in looking into it I would allow the use of my hosting for free, considering I hardly use it myself. It's easy enough to create a subdomain and allow use of it, but integrating that into this site is a different story 3 Quote Link to comment
bananahamuck
Can you guys see the pictures on this page I've linked or is my cache fucking with me?? http://community.ratsun.net/topic/30398-on-advice-from-counsel-name-withheld-till-further-notice/page-7 The other day all the pics were gone.. now not all pics show up but some do,,, and it was the same with Aunt Flo.. Wondering if me messing with them set them in my cache somehow ( I have cleared it several times so can't figure out what's going on) Anyways i changed to imgur in about December for all my new pictures when a New Zealand website "upgraded" and the PB ones wouldn't load any more, But all i seem to have on imgur is pictures of people freezing their asses off and/or in the rain 4 Quote Link to comment

wayno
Postimage is just another photo hosting site is it not? If Photolame survives this change they have made, other hosting sites will likely follow suit, and in an undetermined amount of time the same issue will reappear, photos being held hostage for money, if you don't pay they kill the hostage. 2 Quote Link to comment

wayno
It looks like Fisch took a hard hit because of Photolame, I hope most his business stuff is somewhere else. :( 1 Quote Link to comment
Bleach
Just like Flickr, for a real artist it doesn't cost too much to keep a business account going. Flickr is much more streamlined and far fewer ads than Photobucket. Even before PB started throttling bandwidth they were really slow and slammed you with ads. Free services can always go away or change policies. Nothing lasts forever. Keep a backup of all your photos locally if you really want them. 5 Quote Link to comment
Bleach
If you don't like free, the get out your wallet a PAY FOR IT! All of these websites offer much lower prices the first year when you sign up. These prices are their "regular" monthly rates. Godaddy.com - $8/month 100GB of storage Bluehost.com - $8/month 50GB of storage Simplehost.com - $5/month Unlimited storage? * (no info on storage limits) iPage.com - $8/month Unlimited storage and bandwidth Look for yourself. There are many more. datzenmike
Weather free or $8 a month there's no telling if this will change. 2 Quote Link to comment
Bleach
There is a lot of competition for web hosting sites. Its hard to up your price when everyone else hovers around $5-7/month. You keep getting more and more storage for the same price. My hosting site, same price for 12 years but I still only have 3GB of storage. They haven't bumped me up as the years go by. I can get 100GB now for the same price elsewhere but I just don't need that much space. 3 Quote Link to comment

Redrumls
Well I guess Photo Bucket can go Suck Rope. Cause this really Sucks.I seen your recent photos with Photobucket had the same thing happen to them as mine did.. sucks! My old photos still look the same but recent ones I put in changed up on me. I guess the only thing I can do is leave Photobucket pics in that are still up and use another photo sharing site that's good. Greg 3 Quote Link to comment
125 CSL
As much as I dislike Zuck, the easy and free thing to do is just create a fb account and host your pics. As long as you do not close the account it is free to use.About 1/5 of the pictures I post I use fb as a host. 3 Quote Link to comment

petercscherer
I purchased PhotoBucket's 30Gig storage package last year due to the volume of images I wanted to store. This costs me ~$30/yr. No image losses for me, and it appears that is one way of bypassing the PhotoBucket paywall. They really only shut-off users with "free" accounts. Until I lose my pics, I'm staying. ~Peter 2 Quote Link to comment

DanielC
This is a successful test. Back in the day, when a 56K dial up modem was fast, I signed up for internet service with a local Portland (OR) company, Spiritone. I have maintained that site, even though my internet now is through commicast, to keep the same E-mail address. With dial up service, you get some storage space. The picture above is in that space. I downloaded it to Spiritone, using a FTP program, FileZilla. 3 Quote Link to comment

I'm not sure I trust them to leave my account along and just let me renew or if they'll expect me to pay the $400 on renewal. I'll be working on archiving my stuff between now and then, just in case. I don't create much content anymore with PB....just youtube and instagram. 2 Quote Link to comment
