Z chopper
maybe tuner a mid to late 70s honda hatchback with your other daughter, modern engine but old school looks. That should satisfy both of you. Quote Link to comment

highdesertdatsun
Put new front brake shoes w hardware kit on daughters 620 today. Filthy filthy dirty. It would seem lack of maint main cause of brake probe. The shoes I took off looked OE . The fronts worn out 1mm of shoe remained. The worst problem was adjuster was seized in threads and the cylinder that transfers pressure to rear shoe. Really stops good now. The rear brakes where dirty and adjsuters both seized. Cleaned and lubed em. Had some vacuum hose flop pin in the breeze. Fixed that then Twisted the air fuel mixture in a little. Idles better. Needs el dizzy And valve adj. I think I should re torque the head bolts. The upper rad hose is soft as if coolant is contain by oil. If so very minor now. Coolant drained Looked cloudy. But no oil residual float in atop. No pica today sorry. Quote Link to comment

highdesertdatsun
I did work on it today. Degreased and scrubbed the engine area. I'm going to adjust valves retourqe head and comp test cylinders.I need a matchbox? Anyone pm Me if you want to sell a good matchbox. Info I've read on Ratsun strongly recommends retighten head bolts. I also see headlight switch is bypassed so time to figure that out swell. Been busy at shop thank Buddha so I haven't touched it for a week or two.I do start it and drive out of shop everyday. it reminds me that soon I must make it live again. Ha ha Quote Link to comment

EricJB
right I dont work on it home but at my little humble shop. my body wont put up with working on my back I save that for u pic it . old cars are the only ones worth it. the new stuff is well its junk . disposable heros I love all old steel . im no holds barred if you will . i had been looking for a outlet / addiction for myself. I tend to get into trouble. I was interested in building a tuner honder but somthing held me back. it was the datsun gods. I would rather spend time and pain on somthing old and I did vws when iwas young. I am burned out on air cooled too. so Datsun it is . its realy cool too take somthing bound for salvage and make somthing people strait up trip on and covet . thanks for support . in need it . You and I are a lot alike. Old, arthritic, and both recovering AC VW addicts. Drove them, offroaded, sandrailed, drag raced, wheeled/ dealed them for 20+ yrs. I still have all my engine/ trans tools and fixtures, and my sandrail, but that's it. A friend of mine has a 56 with a 36hp. I drove last year and it scared the shit out of me at 35mph.(my street/ strip bug would pin the speedo in 3rd) Don't know what I was thinking all those years. So Datsun it is. Quote Link to comment
