Junkyard Dog...

Recommended Posts

Well, picked up this 68 510 four door from "the510keeper". I'm told that it was rescued from a junkyard in Oregon and is now here with me in Nevada. Plan is as follows:  running, driving, stopping, steering. Then worry about cosmetics, maybe TR3 some stuff.100_1328.jpg100_1329.jpg100_1330.jpg

Excellent! Can't believe this made it to a junk yard to begin with.. :sneaky:

I hear ya man! Got the running L18, dogleg 5 speed installed. I'm going to button up the little things in the morning, fire her up and register it at the DMV. She starts being my daily tomorrow. B)

Sweet

Side not what is that red thing connected to the chain when you pulled the motor?

You should lower it, you know you want some swag

Red thing is the lovely engine leveler. Going to lower it when I get some wheels ( wink, wink). You know which ones I want. :D

Holy thread revival!!! Well, the 510 has had an L18 with a dogleg 5 speed for quite awhile now, I've gone through everything that has to do with the brakes, I finally get it squared away and reliable and what do I do? Pull the motor of course! I am picking up a motor that I've wanted for awhile now and can't wait to put it in this weekend. On to the OICS!

Woah, forgot about this car. Good work, looks cold... lol

Thanks. I'm at a point where it needs to be redone how I wanted it in the first place. New (to me) motor, Z front seats ( less beat up than the original ones), install my LSD and drive the shit out of it.

Ran out of daylight yesterday and I have no work lights. So finished removing the engine and trans today after work. Going to clean the engine bay tomorrow and start removing the open diff in favor of the LSD in my computer room. If I can accomplish something every day after I get home then it will have the LSD installed, the engine bay clean and be ready for the install when I pick up the motor Saturday. B)

Glad it's going to you James. I'm excited to put the new to me motor in here, it's lighter than the 510 it's coming out of so it should ( in theory) be a little quicker. Hopefully. Well on to the OICS! Pulled the open diff out today and I'm putting the LSD in tomorrow after work. I'm doing a lot better on updating my project thread this go around, kinda proud of myself.
