bilzbobaggins
I'm thinking about pulling the exhaust manifold and painting it. It's too ugly.. but I don't want to bake it in my oven. I might see if I can get the BBQ up to 400 degrees to cure the paint. Could watch Craigslist for a free functional oven. They pop up here regularly. 1 Quote Link to comment
bilzbobaggins
And the gauges look right. So so right 2 Quote Link to comment
Draker
Could watch Craigslist for a free functional oven. They pop up here regularly. I looked today. Nothing good in the area. I figure if I mess up the paint, I'll just blast it back to bare metal.. and start over. 2 Quote Link to comment
Coda
Burned an hour reading this whole thread. I dig your style and your work. Also, SU carbs are so beautiful. I used one on a stuffed VW and that thing got more attention at shows than the turbo did. Add me to the list of buyers if you ever decide to produce the gauge cluster. 2 Quote Link to comment

Draker
Got a few items from around the world. Sidemarkers(repop), NOS fuel pump, 2 door 510 door seals. 2 Quote Link to comment
Draker
I only bought the repops for the light housing. Wired into old harness and used original lenses. No one will ever know.. 3 Quote Link to comment

Draker
Rigged a few adapters together so I can run an oil pressure gauge and the stock sensor. Not sure what I think about it... open to recommendations. 6 Quote Link to comment
Lockleaf
Stock 720 4x4 has an oil pressure sending unit that operates both a gauge and the idiot light. The gauges are independent 2" gauges that can be put anywhere. I'm running that and the companion volt meter in my 510 and also in my 240sx (and my 720, but it came with them). I like them because they also match the other gauges well and look stock. These are the gauges. The sender is the gold can right behind the filter. Seen again here in the middle. 2 Quote Link to comment

KoHeartsGPA
I have a pair of those gauges... Quote Link to comment
Draker
I might paint it and see what it looks like. The brass doesn't flow well. I like the idea of the 720 sensor. I would need to make sure it read correctly on the speedhut gauge. Both good ideas! 1 Quote Link to comment
Draker
Got 3 more of these. They are painted and installed now. 1 Quote Link to comment

Draker
Yeah, I probably won't be either. I did sand blast it first.. but I just want to get it together now. It's all bolted down. 2 Quote Link to comment
Draker
Some weekend progress: Starter installed and wired Dizzy in and wired. Cleaned up and ran fuel lines. Still not happy with the routing.. might look for hard lines. 3 Quote Link to comment

KoHeartsGPA
Meantime wrap those in heatshield tape to prevent vapor locks, I did with mine. Napa sells the roll. Quote Link to comment

Draker
Got the fan shroud blasted.. hoping to get it painted before I go to bed. That way I can bolt it on tomorrow after work. I'd love to get a few pieces replated.. but I need to get this on the road and start back up on body work. Eventually.. 2 Quote Link to comment
