IMG_20140731_150132_zpscrsusugw.jpg

Not too bad but not good, this is all from the 43yr old radiator I got cleaned out last yr, I flushed the system as much as I could before I went any further

IMG_20140731_150930_105_zpssxy9cykp.jpg

Took a little break between test fitting where I was going to mount the fan, I put it back where I had it I didn't like it there plus it covers up the prettyness of the radiator lol!!!

The temp after a 5-10min idle then about a 10min drive and a little more idle after that, so I'd say so far so good  The old rad would get to 180 after 10min of driving, I def notice the difference in the running temp and just the car staying cool in general. Only issue I ran into was bolting in the top right bolt because the one I had was too short plus I think my front core is a little out of wack, anywho I made it work. I'll keep you guys updated on this if anyone is interested on the quality and performance...

Ok so a little bit of an update, cars been running nice and cool since the radiator upgrade except this one time when my eletric fans positive connect came loose on my way home from work in traffic on the freeway. Just pulled over and reconnected it and let it cool down and burned my arm on the rad lol. Besides that I took my daughter to a monthly datsun meet/cruise we have down here...

Starters taking a shit on me which I plan on replacing as soon as the old lady gets home and takes over watching the kids, took me 20min to get it to turn over this mornin. Should of parked it but it got me to work and back, should be getting my side draft filters I ordered last week from the place up by BustaNut he recomended. That's it for now, i'll get my eletrical drain problem sorted so I can get me a radio

Just re-read everything. For some reason I thought your car was mint. Now I won't feel too out of place with my dents and rust. One day we'll meet. Maybe the next Eagle Rock? I'll take the 510 anywhere as long as it's not raining.

Yea no I got dents and dings everywhere lol, yea maybe man or we might caravan to the next IE meet if your down

Hey fellow Ratsuners im back, and I couldn't be any happier. I wasn't sure if I was going to do a build thread or just do a re-intro for a new car. Anyways some of you may remember my old car I picked up from the510keeper a few years ago that I sold because I didn't have the time to work on her and get her running right.

Tons of you told me to keep it and get it running right but I didn't and got rid of her and man did I regret it, and what killed me even more a few weeks after I sold it some friends told me they saw the new owner flying down the street :( I have yet to see it since i've sold it and the guy stays local. Anyways I never felt complete since I got rid of my dream car and knew some day i'd get another one so I would always lurk the interwebebes to see what was around. Then a few weeks ago at a pizza spot I saw this one parked outside in front and I just knew it was time to get another one

So I hit up my buddy Mario Lozano of TSR fabrication to find me another one, a couple weeks go by and he gives me a call telling me he found one. The car used to be owned by Craig Shiraiwa who passed away a few years back but he sold it to someone else and built an sr 510. So Mario gives me the run down on the car how ir's been sitting for 6yrs and all the work he had done on it and about all the goodies the car has and he sends me a bunch of oics to look at

I liked what I saw and had to see it for myself, I wasn't sure if i was going to get it at first but I coudln't get the car out of my mind. I go to see the car for myself and I coudln't pass it up becasue I woudln't have another shot at it. A lot of people wanted the car but I had first dibs and if I passed on it I would of regreted it. So we pick it up and tow bar it back to his shop and go over what we need to do to get her back up and running. got all new fluids, carbs are freshly rebuilt along with a few other things.

The po did some funky eletrical work with that were trying to sort out but im not savy in that area.some shots I stop to take while I was working on her, had to wash her up to because she was dirty.

Car was a vinyl top, original paint, as you can see theres not much body damage. Just the one cancer spot that will be addressed. I don't have any plans for the car right now besides getting her ready before eagle rock swap meet which we are really close to doing. She just needs some eletrical work done and cleaned up, and the carbs need to be adjusted and tuned. The car has sentimental value to Mario and others so I'm going to do my best in modding it when I get around to it. I hope to have the rest of the stuff sorted out by the end of this coming week. If theres anyone in the SoCal area who would love to come down and give a hand with eletrical your more than welcomed to. I'm not letting this one go this ones a keeper.

I remember this 510. Havent seen it in a long time.

Hey! I remember seeing your old 510 on cragislist.

Lol yea it was a tough time, no $ or time to work on it so I had to let it go. Miss the car but I like this was a lot better, although I've had the best drive in my blue one. When I bought it I drove it 8-9hrs back down from northern cali

It can't always reflect on owners, we have priorities I. Life. I personally restore classic cars for a living and work on diesel engines. At times I don't have time for my driveway. And belive me it sucks! I can understand slow progress! As long as it's moving forward I'm all for it! Slowly but surely. Nice dime.

My 510 sat for 12 years in my driveway, mostly because it had to. I had the means of getting it back on the road. If it wasn't for my interest in it, it'd still be sitting. The PO had it sitting in his driveway for 10 years too, and who knows how much it sat with the owner before him. It's sat for over half it's life at the least. I can say it has relatively low miles. The dash isn't original to the car so it's impossible to know the actual mileage.

510s are EZ to work on.

Will this one be EZer for you.? You get smarter?

If blu510 one wasnt running right why didnt mario help you out?

I dont get how these cars can go bad and sit for years. its a reflction of the owner.

Hope you keep it the same color and just clean it up. Put in garage

Like Aztek said, life got in the way. I didn't have the best job at the time and it wasn't my main vehicle either. Didn't have the extra funds to fix what the car needed so I sold it. Now I have time and money to maintain my car. I do plan on keeping it this color I have no need to respray at the moment I'm more focused on how my car performs and everything working properly. No garage yet but she will be next yr when my family and I move into a house

Sooo I haven't updated in a while but Iv'e still been around chiming in on other stuff when I could, was going to wait until the mods were actually done this is what I got going on.....

IMG_20150425_141846_zpstqpxyip3.jpg

New company by the name of ChasingJ's has released there own set of rear coilovers for the 510 lvl1 is just coilover no extra functions, lvl2 (what I got) is one way adjustable lvl3 is two way adjustable. Prices are fair but have gone up since they launched there product and are backordered like crazy, they have sleeve and spring kits as well and will be making complete fronts too from 510 & 280zx struts as well

Rims came in about a week ago :) did a test fit and sent them out to get painted, yes they are heavy but I like them and I'm finally getting off these damn 17's lol and I've hardly seen 510's run them

Did a test fit before I sent them out, fron't pokes too much becasue I still have on the 1in spacers I'm running with the 17's stoked on how it's going to look once there's rubber and setup properly. That's all there is for now still waiting on some stuff from T3 so until then I won't have anything else to update plus I tend to update on Instagram first it's a bit quicker but I'm still around lol.

Ok so I guess it's time to update my thread, since my last update I got tires for my rims while I waited on suspension to come in

IMG_20150526_184821_zpsozviw7ms.jpg

Then my T3 coilovers came in

IMG_20150609_180633_zpsbeakzhy1.jpg

Few days after I finally had everything I went over to my buddys shop and got some help from him installing. We got the front done and then the back, checked right height all around and it was all good

I enjoy being low but I was kind of naive to what the "low life" was all about. Since going low I've started to acquire scrapes and bumps on my exhaust, oil pan and cross member. Also the task that were simple before are not so simple anymore, so much for this being a low profile jack. I guess having 2in of clearence isn't suitable for this jack
