keep at it, i think you will sell more than 12

I think 12 would be a pretty easy mark to hit (depending on final price, of course), and if you end up being able to give people the option of buying separate pieces that should boost your profit margin even more.

Also, if these things look as good as we're all hoping, maybe the prices on the genuine original grills will come down a tad since there will finally be a viable option.

ALSO also, since people won't be spending enough money to buy a couple of 510 parts cars on thee things, they'll probably be more comfortable with customizing/personalizing the grills. As it is, I don't think anyone has ever seen a Bluebird plastic grill that looks any different than any other (besides than general condition) but this will give people the opportunity to play around a bit. I'm sure there will be some cring-worthy stuff, but somebody might end up with something really cool :)

Well I think I've done it! The prototype seems to be viable, and the whole arrangement is sturdy and fits fairly well. I still have some bugs to workout in the brackets, hardware and in the pouring proses but nothing to big. It will probably take me the rest of the week to iron out that stuff and get it painted but with some luck I should be rock-in this at Canby.

I thought that, too. But maybe it's just mocked up for the pic. He did say he had a few mounting bugs to work out....

Edit: he said brackets and hardware, not mounting, but that could mean the same thing

OK, so y'all got me stressing that I may have fucked up, but what I have found is that on the coupe it seems to fit more flush than on the 510. I can only assume that the cars that this came stock on may have had shorter mounting tabs than the others. Now with that said anybody that does think that it sticks out to far can easily remove some material from the back of the bezels and brackets to pull it in. Not knowing what car or condition of car this may go on I would rather give you to much material than not enough. I would hope any Datsun owner worth his/her salt could make this fit his/her needs.

P.S. Does anybody else have there spell check tell them that "Datsun" is spelled wrong?

This has been a hell of a project. I'm going to take a break form it till after Canby, and then I'll figure out what its going to take to bring them to market.
