What bothers me is how the media labels the stupid shit people do ( or did , myself included) as "drag racing". Not good for the actual safe and legal sport. Take it to the track, before there are no tracks anymore due to misconseptions.

I think drag racing began on the street but moved to a closed, purpose built track. If you say drag racing I think that most think of a 1/4 mile with grandstands. Street racing needs no explanation and usually does not include a 1/4mile run.

The news media is there to sell TV or newspaper advertizing space and little else. If it bleeds... it leads. I stopped watching the news last August and for one... I'm much happier.

I just lost a good friend last week (im 26yrs old and she was too). she was hit by a 68yr old drunk driver, like really man at that age you should know better! :sneaky:  I feel sick to the stomach when people drive drunk because they so selfish that they don't realize they putting other peoples lives in danger. as for street racing, they have drag strips, take that :poop:  there.

I always loved the saying "dirt tracks are for racing and pavement is made for getting there" :)

I'll dispense with the lectures about street racing when normal driving is dangerous enough these days. We are all guilty of doing, trying, watching, enjoying or bragging about what we do and got away with in our cars. We all do stupid things, myself included. I think we should set a good example for others of all ages, so stories about doing anything on the street that a police officer would ticket you for, shouldn't be here. If you are not sure then don't bother posting.

I totally agree. I somehow survived my early 20's driving the Texas Hill Country at a high rate of speed. I went off the road and took out 200 ft of barbed wire fence on a fast sweeping curve. 95 percent of the time it would have been Oak Trees. The fence didn't slow down the car but the ditch on the other side of the fence did. I was sliding broadside to the ditch and realized that I was not going to make it. I threw the car straight into the ditch and went across with not much drama but the car was almost a total loss.. If I had hit the ditch sliding sideways, I would have rolled at least a dozen times. You are not immortal. You are not invincible. You will not live forever, especially If you drive like a maniac. After this incident, I stopped driving like a Maniac.

If you're gonna be stupid, you better be tough!!!

Laissez les bon temps rouler!!

The road goes on forever and the party never ends!

I got a $7500.00 ticket when I was younger for drag racing in a parking lot. Needless to say now I drive like an old lady:) Speeding and driving crazy might seem like fun at the time but it's dangerous and expensive. Think about how much Datsun crap I could buy for $7500.00 dollars!!!!!!!!!! I have done a ton of stupid things on the road, most of them I was caught doing, some of it I got away with. All it takes is one mistake though, not worth it.

I've only done it once. It was against that damn 1987 toyota supra turbo. I won in the little prelude. That's right a Honda beat a supra

Well, they only weigh about 3500 lbs, and the prelude is prolly like 2500. That and those things are slow as turds, the NAs are actually faster then the turbos!! At least in stock form.

The point of this post is to not be glorifying street racing (hooning) with stories about what you did.

A race is a race, and a race involves the least amount of care and control. This post was to counteract a few (at the time) posts boasting of winning street races. Or heading that way and I thought this would set a good example. We all do stupid shit, no sense glorifying it.
