the h72 castings are dime a dozen here in the states, and you could cut them as much as you like. if you dont mind shipping, i have a bare h72 that im willing to give you for the price of shipping. its just taking up space as it is.

Thanks m8! I'm considering this. Because i do have another A15 engine in another wagon. I'll contact you if I need it, thanks! :)

Wow, I'm assuming that is a block heater coming off the side there. I've never seen one installed on an A series.

Wow, really? Haha, I don't think i benefit from it because this car is not going to be in winter use.

Okay guys, time for more pictures.

Posted Image
Got this on this weekend. There was a scratches on bearings and they needed some fixing. (fixed now and got new bearings on them)
Posted Image
Then I cleaned these and made them fit to the aluminium head with some grinding paste (so there is no leakage anymore)
Posted Image
And some more cleaning. Just because new seals need to attach correctly.
Posted Image
And here is the grinding result(shiny part is done). I'm going to glass ball blasting on this head, so it's going to look like new :)
Posted Image
New parts! Bearings, seals, iridium spark plugs etc.
Posted Image
Painted some bolts, haha. But i'm thinking about getting some stainless bolts so they wont ever rust (don't worry, i'm just going to use them outside of the motor, haha)

I'm waiting for the blowing cabin and those techline coatings to arrive. Then I can put this engine together! (hopefully in 2 weeks)
And yes, this is slow project. But I'm able to this on weekends only :/ I'm waiting for my winter holiday, so i can make more.

Here again! With lots of new photos to share!

Let me introduce myself

20130220_213505_by_atomicsickness-d5vmkw

I'm Jimmy, 16 year old. Building this Datsun for my summer car! I love to do things on my own and always happy to learn something new.

Back to car, haha :D

Sorry for flash, but the Nissan logo is actually matte black!

20130220_200224_by_atomicsickness-d5vmju

Looks shiny and nice ;) You should compare this to the old photos that i have on page 1!!!

20130220_200233_by_atomicsickness-d5vmjy

Finger corner, sorry. But more shiny and awesomeness

AND FINALLY I MADE IT, the bearings, here you go

20130220_175858_by_atomicsickness-d5vmjk

First up, we went shopping to our local junk yard and found this lovely stove for car parts. ( 1 hour in 175 C ). and before that, the bearings needed to be in 300 C for like 10 min roughly, just that the factory grease would melt off. And then I used some paint removal to finish them. After that, I used some steel wool to have nice contact with the final product (techline glide something).

20130220_190941_by_atomicsickness-d5vmjp

Sad to say, it didn't go so well at the first time :( But the second time was a charm and we had a nice coating!

20130220_201014_by_atomicsickness-d5vmkd

Out of stove and ready!

20130217_120125_by_atomicsickness-d5vmmo

Then it was time for piston coating! (reduces heat from engine = more efficiency) 3 ready, 1 to go! Shiny ;)

20130220_212812_by_atomicsickness-d5vmkk

Ahhaha, this part was awkward, the stove started to smell so bad so i had to put it outside! There was some gas leaking out of the vents, ugh...

20130220_213435_by_atomicsickness-d5vmkt

But after all it was a happy ending! Here are the finished pistons with coating (back there is my fathers toyota's pistons, but on the front is my datsun's pistons)

And MORE good news! I got a cheap BRAND NEW turbo! It was like 355euros, normally they are like 450 euros and up, but i ordered this one from ebay.uk . So got my turbocharger and I'm working on fuel injection system next. Yes! I'm changing to megasquirt, because I met one Swedish guy who has a datsun with turbocharged A15 and megasquirt so I may have some tips from him!

Tomorrow I'm going to assembly the engine to half ready :) Stay tuned for more~ Leave thoughts and feel free to comment!

New weekly updates!

So today I decided to work with the intake a little. So I took a shovel and dug our opel vectra out of snow (50cm). Just to make sure it has 4-point injection system and a electronic mainboard that i could use with my datsun! And all the sensors could be used too :)

20130303_165020_by_atomicsickness-d5wuem

So the injection system out of this + sensors + mainboard(so i can tune it with megasquirt!)

20130303_171112_by_atomicsickness-d5wuew

Then I got my hands on to the aluminium head, and we added the heat resistance coating over it

20130303_171145_by_atomicsickness-d5wuf1

Old head gasket served its last time, but very well!

20130303_173638_by_atomicsickness-d5wuf7

Heated it a little and lifted the vents so they didn't stuck with the head

20130303_184716_by_atomicsickness-d5wufd

And here's the finished view! Looks good overall, few cracks on the coating((Lack of cleaning) but at least 90% of the piston area is covered with this coating)

And I got the turbo now! Sorry I didn't take a picture of it, maybe later on. But hope you liked this post. More pictures coming next week :) Stay tuned
