datsunfreak
I might be interested, I'm leaning towards stainless steel like with my exhaust manifold tho... And depends how much are you asking for them? send me a pm or something with pictures Well, just in case anyone else wants to see what spending way too much money at a CNC machine shop looks like... ^_^ 1 Quote Link to comment

datsunfreak
How thick they are? 1" thick, but you'll notice there are step notches to make sure the washers are spaced out to the correct height to match up to the exhaust manifold flange. Quote Link to comment

Are the notches enough for spacers? it looks kinda small step for spacer. Quote Link to comment
f1ndM3aTaco
So I finally started modifying the rear fenders again and cut open the original panel and just bended it out a bit and made a little extension to make the ''booty'' larger as seen in the pictures. Turned out pretty okay and suits the lines of the cars imo. Also got the Argon bottle from Poland, time to continue the Aluminium welding at weekend, looking forward to that. Also going to try machining the injector pockets for the intake manifold at work, we will see how that turns out as well. It was so nice to have her outside so I could have a full view of it, looks Will definitely be doing something like this with my build further down the line. I agree with you these cars have a great booty but they need a little more cushion for the pushin' :P 1 Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
Are the notches enough for spacers? it looks kinda small step for spacer. There is just enough room. It's snug but fits fine. Quote Link to comment
Atomic
There is just enough room. It's snug but fits fine. How much then? I'm guessing the shipping will cost a lot Quote Link to comment
Atomic
Fixed the cluster with soldering iron, had few cracks here and there: Then I went and saw off the cigarette lighter / ash tray part from the cluster: It fits now nicely with center console in place: Quote Link to comment
Atomic
took the driveshaft out and sent it to be machined. Bought some nut and bolts for turbo setup and installed it to see how everything is coming together, I could start doing the water- and oil lines. Moved the cigarette lighter, fits perfectly next to the ignition lock: Also collected all new parts into the car, to be installed #soon #hopefully: 1 Quote Link to comment
Atomic
Ordered finally the throttle body sensor cable: 1 Quote Link to comment
Atomic
Got the motor and transmission out of the car yet again: Modified the oil pan to clear out the stabilizer bar and to replace the missing space I made a small pocket for the side: Tested with 4 liters of water, welds hold up and the oil return from the turbo is above the water line: And the return line looks fine and should have good angle for oil to come out: Messed around with waterlines/oil lines to see how I should route them: 1 Quote Link to comment
Mattndew76
Well, just in case anyone else wants to see what spending way too much money at a CNC machine shop looks like... ^_^ I sure hope you didnt pay a lot for those. Quote Link to comment
Atomic
Cleaned the transmission and painted it: Put the flywheel and clutch cover and tightened the bolts to torque: Had to cut a bit from the engine to fit the bolts from the other side. Going to put nuts for transmission end because of the pockets: All in place: Put transmission and engine together with clutch fork assembled, it's really heavy feeling clutch. Tried to push it with my leg and it took some effort, will see how is it when testing with hydraulic pedal: Also welded a small nut for water inlet:: Quote Link to comment
Atomic
Sprayed some stone chip mass to the bottom of the car to get wide coverage, then used thicker stuff and added it on top of the welds. Going to spray thicker layer with compressor later: Also found the old bumper and took the arms from it + blinkers: Found some matt black paint and painted it with brush, so thick layers and not so smooth finish: Also painted the caps for brake cylinder: And some may have clean garage, I don't   1 Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
How much then? I'm guessing the shipping will cost a lot I'll shoot you a PM. I sure hope you didnt pay a lot for those. I didn't. Snob. Quote Link to comment
Atomic
Got something done again, gonna be longer time between updates now, since my university continues. But I got the angel eyes installed, looking good: And added more underbody coat + painted the transmission support: 3 Quote Link to comment
Atomic
Used datsunfreak design ideas for 20mm intakemanifold flange and then down to 10mm reliefs on the sides, here is how they turned out to be: Oh, and I got them for free at the university workshop, sweet! 1 Quote Link to comment
Stoffregen Motorsports
Also welded a small nut for water inlet:: Late to the game here, so maybe I missed something, but isn't that a block breather? Why do you have a water line connected to it? Quote Link to comment
Atomic
Late to the game here, so maybe I missed something, but isn't that a block breather? Why do you have a water line connected to it? Yeah I know, it was pointed out at Finnish nissan club also  Forgot to update it here. I mistook it from wateroutlet at first. But cheers for heads up~ 1 Quote Link to comment

Atomic
I'm not sure how should I do the intake manifold, I made a quick 3D sketch about it, but not sure if I should just put the injectors on top of the flanges... Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
I like this design. More torque and less heat transfer from exhaust to the intake plenum. I'm not sure how should I do the intake manifold, I made a quick 3D sketch about it, but not sure if I should just put the injectors on top of the flanges... 1 Quote Link to comment
Atomic
I'm still playing with the intake manifold idea, because I really don't know how if it would be the best to have the injectors spray directly on top of the intake valves. What I have read tho is that it mainly affects the idle quality and emissions. But just meanwhile I drilled the 8mm holes to the flanges and played with another idea to have the pipes just go flush flat: The 3D image has other problems too, I'm not quite sure if the pipe is going over the valve cover, we will see. I found some pipes ready for that design already. But what I'm most likely to do is have intercooler piping so that I can vary the length of the runners via silicone hoses and see how much does that affect the torque curves at dyno. I have seen some pretty extreme differences between long and short runners on NA engine: Source: https://mechanics.stackexchange.com/questions/25236/how-does-intake-manifold-runner-length-effect-the-power-curve-of-a-car Also interesting topic: http://www.emeraldm3d.com/articles/emr-adj-length-intake/ Quote Link to comment
