Re-reading this post,I noticed that they came from Finley Brothers Datsun,

in Crecent City. That's 1-1/2 hours from here.I'd forgotton that there was a dealership

there (long gone).

I bought a lot of manuals like that from a book store that was going out of

business, just to save them. There were some old Corona,1200,etc. manuals. It was

interesting to see the rare stuff that we didn't get over here.

lol scanning that whole box would take yeeeaaarss...

Im still like 1/3 of the way threw the 710 FSM.

scanning to PDF is invaluable cuz its out there for everyone and preserved like it should be.

but god is it tedious hahaha

Tedious is the word, also to not destroy the books I preview, crop, and then scan one side then repeat preview and crop and scan the other side upside down and flip the image later. The scanner will only do 600dpi and the grayscale contrast sucks (freeby all-in-one canon piece of crap). The scanner sits right next to my chair, so I've been throwing it on to scan while on the web, letting it scan and then go through and do the opposite page when it finishes.

The sick thing is I'm actually looking forward to scanning more when I get home...fricking datsunitis :fu:

My estimate is .5 years or so at a book or two a night to do the whole box non-destructively

I have a badass scanner. It would require no backing, but i could put that fat stack of pages on it, it would scan front & back pages. Probably take a day. Auto puts it into PDF for me, too.

600 dpi is more than enough. The bulletins were printed at about 300 dpi.

I don't know how you do it so quickly. I never finished the parts catalog, maybe got a 3rd done.

I've had a B210 for the last 13 years, I'm both patient and stubborn

Fast scanners help too. My flatbed scanner does a page in like 1.5 seconds at 600dpi.

Actually the scanner sucks, at least 45 seconds per scan and I do a preview first to get the crop right. I just do other things while it scans, and occasionally load a new page.

Starting this next, over a 100 pages so may take a while:

Done scanning.

All pages are scanned, as soon as Adobe stops being a little bitch I'll get the PDF assembled and uploaded. But for now all the pages are at this link:
