Recommended Posts

Hi all, though id stick up some info and pictures of my datsun 120y.

Have had it for just a couple of months but have made a bit of progress.

Was stock standard when I got it, 120,000kms (about 80,000 miles)

have lowered it about 2 inches all around, blocks in the back, and slightly shorter springs with b310 strut tops in the front. Also fitted bump steer spacers to the struts. Wheels are genuine Hayashi Streets, 14x6.5, 0 offset with 185/55 tyres

Has standard a12 with automatic (urgh) next job is manual conversion.

Further plans are manual swap, a15 engine and a little lower.

enjoy!

Nicely done. As much as I like those 12" hubcaps, the Hayashi Streets like fantastic on it!

Does it have the GX trim?

cheers! not sure what the GX trim is so cant comment. Its New Zealand new (where I live) and I think we got things different to the USA versions

thanks for the compliments! had a few issues today with three people in the car ad stuf fin the boot....was getting a lot of rubbing in the back. A bit more hammer time me thinks.....

I also have a mk1 golf/rabbit front chin spoiler to go on at some stage. think it will need to be a bit lower first to pull the look off

Sounds sweet!  How was your trip?  Any breakdowns/issues?

Trip was great! Only issue was the screw holding the carb fuel pump linkage on fellout (thankfully all the linkages stayed in tact). Managed to find another screw that fitted to get me home (was only a few mins down the road).

Otherwise ii was great.

latest update, have installed an a15 engine and 5 speed gearbox. Have also been working away on the suspension. Built up some coilovers for the front and reset the leafs. Still need to add blocks to match the back to the front. Also got a later model grill with fog lights.

As it currently sits

Hey man, very nice coupe!

I was wondering if you would share some more about your bike carb setup. How did you tackle the vacuum advance for the distributor?

I bought a manifold for my R1s from Bogg Bros but it only has a vacuum outlet from one runner to go to the brake booster. According to Steve at Bogg, I should just run without the vacuum advance, but that sounds counter productive. If you could share your experience with it that would be great.
