I've liked Datsuns for a while but could never find one, so when i seen this on craigslist (literally 2 mins from my house) and i had to go look at it. It had a a14 with a 5 speed and 174,XXX miles on it. but the day before i went to see it the guy sold the transmission -__-.It has been sitting since 94 after a kid ran it into a ditch, bent the wheel and fender and they didn't want to fix it. (or so the guy says.) so he said 200 and i figured "why not i could get about that much in scrap." So he towed it home for me yesterday, and now i have a project on my hands and im gunna need some help, because I'm not to sure of what im doing haha.

I pretty much want to get it in working order. I want to swap the a14 with a KA24 and a 5speed, and have it on coilover sleeves or whatever, but im not to sure what to do with the rear. I also want to put flares on it, but dont know which ones to get. ???

Can anyone tell me what Ill need to do to get it where i want it?

Anyway here are some pictures of what i started doing. Hopefully ill get some better ones tomorrow of the whole car.

UPDATE:

Took off fenders, bumpers, hood, finished tearing the carpet out, got most of the rust removed from behind the back bumper, and i think that's it.

Opened up the glove box and found this mostly empty. maybe that contributed to running into the ditch. haha

Still not too sure why its leaning so much. The springs are much more compressed on this side than the other. Any ideas?

Hey- I'm just getting started with an 80 210 myself- same motor, same rust, also been sitting since the early 90s.. but I guess I'm a little more lucky in that the transmission and everything else is in place with mine. I'll be watching your project with interest.

i have an 82 210 that i am working on also. i am swapping in an SR20 into it. found a 200sx cross member that bolts right up, and the SR slots in perfectly also. for the rear i transplanted a ae86 solid backend and just transferred the mounts and spring chairs, and its pretty good. just need to find a coilover system that will fit the datsun.

Anyone know if i could run coilovers on the rear? If so what mods would have to be made? And im thinking of building the a14, but is it worth it? i want to get is going as fast as possible, and i like the idea of keeping the motor but its hard to find a trans. whats the smartest idea? i also found this on Craigslist. http://norfolk.craigslist.org/pts/3341240314.html how easy of a swap is this?

A14 will NOT get it going as fast as possible, no matter how much money you spend on the A14. You can bolt a stock pickup KA24DE in from a wrecking yard and it will be faster than a $5000 A14. Or swap a Ford 5.0 in there (it fits).

Datsun 210 already has rear coilovers. It has a 4-link with coils over the shocks. You can fit shock/coilover aftermarket units, but why? A couple months ago someone just get heavier springs from another Datsun and it firmed up the back (maybe too firm...)

Wow, they S110 seems so much wider than the 210, I'm surprise the crossmember bolts right in w/o modification.

it fits perfectly. i put my build on a different website, wheelsjamaica.com if you want to see it. go to that site, hit the nissan/infinity section and on that page my thread is there titled datsun 210 project sr20.

pics and some details, its not finished but the engine is in

as you speak of engines, a lot of people have to cut the tunnel when swapping in the sr engine, but i just found out last night, that if you swap in a sr20 with a ka24 gearbox, only changing the ka bell housing to the sr bell housing, it shortens the gearbox and slots it back in the original slot, and provides some better gear ratios.
