New rebuilt head, new exhaust/intake gasket, all new insulator gaskets, new 44's from Wolf Creek racing, all timing top and bottom on the mark. My problem is in-between shifts, carbs do not throttle down, shifts around 4-grand continue to climb with clutch pedal fully depressed. Have eliminated any vacuume leaks, running out of ideas, has anybody had this problem?

does it do that all the time or just with the clutch in? mine was doing that all the time for a bit, i could get up to about 50 mph in 4th gear without touching the gas pedal at any point in time from the start. turned out to be my cold start valve(not sure what exactly it is, but thats what i call it) on my carb was getting stuck wide open and forcing my engine to race. might be something to look into.

Are the carbs properly balanced? Weak throttle return spring? Accelerator linkage binding? Does it race when started? A vacuum leak won't necessarily make the engine speed up. You need fuel with air and a leak won't provide fuel. Did this setup in the mid ninety's and worked through the associated problems.

This is the bracket I made for the return springs.

Cold start valve? Mine will only spin the engine to about 2000 rpm's.

EDIT: I just noticed you can see the 520 in the background of the last shot!
