so I've been a long time lover and fan of the 510 forever. Been searching for a nice solid car out here on the east coast forever but that is really like finding a needle in a hay stack! I almost pulled the trigger on a couple west cost car's sight unseen but is real hard to do. All of them have their pro's and con's but I really wanted a clean slat that I could build my dream car.

So after putting a WTB add on a few forums, a great guy named David emailed me and said he had a real straight solid car he might consider selling if I was interested. after seeing the rust buckets that pop up over here, I had to see it for myself. long story short, I drove down with my cuzz and his turbo diesel rig with the hope's this car is what he said. of course it has it's good and bad points, but all and all looks clean and straight and all there. She needs some cleaning up but so do I.....needless to say I pick it up and trailered it the 5 or so hours back to it's new home in NY.

My goal is a full suspension, srdet swap. Driver

I can't wait to start the build and get to work.
I'll try to get some pics tomorrrow

yeah, been looking for a while now and after meeting David, I really do believe he was straight and honest with how solid of a car this is. looks real straight and clean. I want to get all the majors mods done before I even think about paint.

I'm going to concentrate on getting her stance right, wheels/tires, then sr swap...if that works out, all while I start the little cleaning up do dads.

My build thread will start when I take the first bolt off for either replacing or refinishing, what ever is first!

great to be here, been waiting 4 years now!!!

Car is a 72 2 door with L16 and 4 speed, Weber 32/36, EL dizzy, Header, 2" exhaust, Camber plates, springs, sway bars, ZX snowflake wheels, honda seats, clean interior with custom door panels, new headliner, 240Z steering wheel, etc. Car runs well and feels very solid. The car was restored in the 90s and all the seals were replaced. Body is very solid with custom Metal flares that were done to a high standard. Color is black cherry.

Can't wait to see what you do with it Brian.

Why is it every new 510 owner wants an SR20DET swap?

This being your first 510, I'd start with the basics. Maybe a built L20-22, and suspension work. You'd be surprised at how far those will take you. The L-16 with the weber is very slow. Most of us don't get around to something like an SR swap until way down the line. The SR is exceedingly complicated to finish, with all the wiring, plumbing, mounts, etc.

Looks good, inside and out, but I'd scale back the plans a bit and enjoy the car. Use it, and figure out as you go along what you really want.

This Car is just begging for an engine swap. The L16 runs good but is a snail. Brian has built other classic cars and I am sure he has what it takes to make an SR swap happen.

I think a nice N/A SR would be good but some people just love Boost.

Go for it Brian.

This really is a beautiful car... those simple flares over the wheels give it a real nice touch and character.

Congratulations, everyone I know in the area that has seen it loves that car...pictures don't do it justice!

:bye: bye bye Plum!

Grats on the new ride - real nice!

David - can I ask which center console that would be?

thanks!

The center console looked to be an original Amco 510 console that someone modified with a cup holder where the padded armrest used to be,
