1969. 1968 & 1969 are pretty much the same car (to me) but '68 was the last year Chevelle to have a vent window.

the wing window was offered on the GM A bodys up to 72 if the astro vents were NOT installed in the dash. It's rare to find one or see one on a chevelle. Don't have a production number if any made to back this up but it was offered.

just to prove GM did offer the wing window, here's a 72 Lemans GT-37 without the astro-vents.

But that's also a "post" car not a hardtop. I think he was saying they did away with them on the hardtop models in '69.

I wouldn't be so quick to blame the paint shop. That car is over 45 years old. Doors could have been replaced at any time... ^_^

I forgot the '68 had different tail lights...

honestly, I thought GM did away with all the vent wings after '69 but it sure look like they kept 'em on post cars. I know the '68 and '69s had different taillights but have never studied 'em enough to figure 'em out. 1964-67 are real easy to ID, 1968-1969 are pretty close, 1970 stands alone and then I can't tell the 1971s and 1972s apart. After 1973, I kind of thought they got ugly but I know some Laguna owners who get mad when I say that ;)

I want to know why this guy put Black Plates on a 71/72 Chevelle. Correct plates should be Blue Plates

Those are the newer issue Black/Gold plates. They have

seven letters/numbers,instead of six.

To me,they just don't look right, especially on a nerwer vehicle.

Looks like the owner tried to bang them up,to make them appear older.

I think that they charge $70.

It's possible that the car had an accident and they were made to get the new ugly white plates. That's what happened to Stanley years ago. I had blue plates. I hate the white plates. Since CA started the legacy plate program only the black plates had enough orders so only those were made. I was hoping the blue ones would get enough interest so I could get those but they didn't. Stanley has black plates now. Better than the stupid ugly white ones.

It's probably just the picture but the plate was in perfect condition. DMV charges $50 for them initially and then an extra $40 each year to renew.
