Oldtimers rallycar - Datsun 1500 Pickup (620) 1979

This years rally guide is now public.

It gives you basic quidelines - what you should take with you and how the points are calculated.

There are 166 crews registered to take part this year. The max an organizer is willing to let to the starting line.

There are 4 classes:

2WD - pre 1980 - B category machines (under 3500kg of crossweight and under 8 passenger seats) <- I'm in this class, the biggest of them all around 120 cars.

4WD - pre 1980 - B category machines

TRUCKS/BUSSES - C category machines (over 3500kg of crossweight and over 8 passenger seats). Mostly old military trucks.

MODERN CLASSICS - everything else thats is built after 1980 - but only machines that get OK from the organizers. Some cool cars in this last class; LADA VFTS, LADA Niva, Subaru Brat, 84 Nissan Silvia, 89 Nissan Pulsar NX, 84 Ford Sierra XR4, 84 Toyota Celica ST165 GT-4 C. Sainz rallycar replica, 88 Nissan Silvia S12 turbo,

The points are scored by time and by crossword puzzle.

Every right letter in the crossword gives you 1+ point. Max is 300 points you can get with the correct overall anwser.

Every minut thats over the correct time you arrive in the checkpoint is -1 point, every minut you arrive under the correct time is -10 points. So its better to be late than to early.

Special stage is just to get a special stage award. In there the average time is what counts. All cars go trough it and the average time of them all is the winning time. So If you can get it closest to the average you win, special awards also go to the fastest and the slowest one :D - it is just most for fun.

The crossword isn't your sunday paper thing. For every question you get the anwser on the track. These can be a sign on the side of the road, or a date on a builgind somehere. One year it was volume of a canister in gallons - the cannister it self was tied to a tree 150m from the road in the woods and was marked 4,8L - so who in europe knows by heart how many Liters is in a Gallon.

Or you my count somehing on the side of the road - for example there was question of how many teeth are on a sporket. Well the sproket was 2m in diameter old watermills cast iron one with 284 teeth. Try to count these when its half buried in the ground and its in a ditch on the side of the road in the dark.

Some questons anwsers are funny as hell.

Example: "In here you will find something that is older than mammoths shit" - anwser was a "granit bourder"

the rally is done, don't know the results. And my cam just failed before the special stage. That would have been a good video as most of the time there was just mud flying all over the car. The truck looks like a mud monster in front of my house. I'll post pics and some videos soon. I got the cam running again so it does take some time to go trough it all.

Here are some pics

All of you thank you for your help with the truck.

I've just sold her to a Datsun fan in here. So I hope he keeps it on the road...

Once again all of you a big thank you for help and input.

Maby some day I'll be here again with some other Datsun/Nissan.

Maby I'll make a thread in here of the new 4x4 van.

Well, it has certainly been fun watching all the progress you have made with this truck. I will miss your updates and videos. You should start a thread in the Non Datsun section here for your van. I would like to see the progress you make with it as well.

Best regards

Jes
