Pro tip for chain tensioner on L series head gasket replacement

Doing a head gasket repair? Need something to keep the chain tensioner in place? Grab a 1" x 8 1/2" piece of PVC pipe to drive in between the 2 sides of the chain under the timing cover. It fits perfectly to keep the tensioner in place and slides out relatively easy with a pair of pliers. Make sure you set the crank to TDC on #1 first though, because you wont be able to move it once the pipe is in

Now I know there are diagrams for wedges and things online and its what the manual tells you to use, but, next time give the piece of PVC a try. You won't be disappointed. :D
