my b210 vs an evo story

well my neighbor down about a block from me just bought a 2006 mitsu evo. it's bonestock minus a filter and a nice and loud blow off valve. he came to my house to show it off to me and to see when i would line up my vet against it. Well i said to him, forget my vet becuase my b210 is better than his car in at least three ways.

 

man did he get pissed. we bet a twelve pack of miller chill on this.

 

i told him that my car has better gas milieage. he conceeded and agreed. that's one. the b 210 has smaller dent in the wallet that his car. i have less than a grand in my car and he still owes twenty something. he reluctanly agreed, that's two. the last one is where the argument is. i told him my car has better moddability than his. he disagreed. i argued that my 1974 b210 is smogg excempt and that basically i can put a rocket under the hood and i will not get a ticket. he already got pulled over for having his loud ass blow off valve, and while the chp checked the blow off valve they also checked everything else to make sure it was legal to drive on the road. what's even more creepy is that they also checked to see if it was the stock turbo.

 

he also argues that they make a ton of aftermarket parts for his car and therefore his car is more moddable. who's right me or him. if you agree with him, then help me think of something else that my car is better at than his.

so did you race? this more of a who's is more moddable in california! i assume your there when talking about cops checking for stock turbo's. well there are def. more evo parts out there for purchase, i can't find anything for my b210. but didn't you do a v8 conv. in yours? so i don't know the answer but i would like to know who bought the beers! i think the 210 is better because you never see another while driving it. at least i never have.

emissions exempt means you don't have to get checked but you are legally supposed to keep the stock engine and all emissions items in good working order. The 'ability' to swap an engine is not moddability. Any car can be modified by a good machine shop and fabricator weather or not there is aftermarket support. So that's pretty null.

 

You'd be better off with a new argument. Your car is less likely to be stolen in downtown LA?? :D

Your car's value remains the same or increases with inflation while his loses value for many years to come.

I think he is right. Simply because you didn't state "Legally" in your question for him. You both could strap a rocket to it, but legally is a different story. He has more after market parts available for his car, which leads me to he wins. Bummer for you, but thats how I see it.

Not only easier to work on but easier to fix!

 

Your car quits and is on the side of the road.

1/ You check for spark:

Yes? go the 2/

No? check points, set? got power?, wires, cap, coil OK?

 

2/ Got gas?

Yes? go to 1/

No? check carb, inline filter plugged? mechanical pump?

 

If you have gas and spark it will likely run. Less complicated... less to go wrong... easier to figure out.... easier to fix on the side of the road. Try this with his car. Everything is sensors and ECU. Fuel injection, electronics, computerized. Good freekin' luck even guessing what's wrong without a lap top.

Is the car with the v8 the car in the bet? If so,as is you have a v8 which is most likely a GM..?whatever,there may be more modifications out there for that than an evo which could lead to your technical win.

Tons of bolt on over the counter domestic aftermarket shit.Think as is.:cool:

wow i never saw the car finished. saw the thread where you ask if you should put the v8 in. nice work, looks really tough too. so what did you fill the bumper hole up front with. got any closer pictures of that? i'm not sure who wins the bet, but i love your car.

the car in the picture is not my car. i have not even started my car yet. my v8 will go in next tax season. i will probably just split the twelve pack and call it even stevens.

i would tend to think that he wins in amount of bolt on parts but you win for creativeity and originality not to mention potential and if he still dissagrees show him these

Nah, a GM small block is too wide to fit a Datsun. That's a Ford 5.0. Fits right in between the Datsun strut towers.

 

Not so much the width, I think, as the Ford has the distributor in front. No firewall bashing. Fords are lighter too, a really big plus.

the width is almost the same. the small block chevy is 20 inches across on it's widest point. the advantage to the ford small block is that the sump is in the front of the engine and therefore it's easier to retain the stock b210 steering. chevy's have the sump in the rear.

the car isnt mine its on craigslist found the link in a thread on here and had to save the pics they were just to sweet as for finishing up the panel where the bumper used to sit it looks just like a piece of sheet metal as for the "trailer hack job on the hood" i agree i personally think a shorter airfilter would have been better then it would have go under the stock hood and yeah ford motors the distributer is in fron so its eayier to do a tune up and such but im a chevy guy myself so i would run chevy if i did this

Well it's a matter of opinion...base on the criteria your posted then your car wins but if you ask about creature comport, speed, HP then maybe his. The wild card is obviously ego..in other wards whose ego is bigger.:D

 

BTW, there's an AB616 for California, that legislators are trying to pass and if this passes nobody wins. This got killed ahile back and some numskull is trying to get it to pass again.

yep..check out where the distributor is at, Chevy's usually have theirs at the back of the engine.

just looking for a reason to post the vid. i like the b210 more. besides, insurance in california for the evo is outrageous, since all young guys buy em up and crash em. i think it was #1 on some list of wrecked cars a few years back.
