I think this is awesom, taking 2 SCRAP cars and experimenting, soo much better than some dummies stuffing a v8 or trying to put a shitty inline 6 into a car meant for a 86 hp motor (not to mention ruining said car and no finishing project).

Actually thinking of pulling it out of the woods and finishing the metal work, have time at home these days, my son is growing up and he has this project in sight, I told him no way will this be his first car but maybe we could take it to the race track near our home, Calabogie motorsports park, maybe one day if its safe and all we would then put it on the road, still need to find a good donor subaru. need to reserch best year for efi conversion, I was thinking a old turbo subie from the 80s, I do my project with very low budget, so sometimes they take years, recently I built this harley trike for a friend, money was no object as he wanted it nice, because I had a good budget I managed to do the whole build in 3 months, right now I am doing a jeep wrangler ill post pics.

cheers

I would think early 90s 2.2 turbo would make a good efi donor. It's already built for the EJ engine. The 80s would be an EA engine and likely the harness would require more modification while being an older technology, so no real benefit.

Also, forester struts are taller than impreza struts. Even if you aren't going with aftermarket suspension, I would swap to those. And of course, wrx and sti stuff is lower and stiffer than either of them.

Impreza wagon control arms and lateral links etc will also narrow your suspension width by 20mm per side, though I doubt that's much of a concern, since there would still be inches of poke to deal with.

right 90s 2.2 T makes more sense, hard to find these days,

top of the strut is actually 240z, only bottom is forester, so i figure i have to measure and find something, change mounting holes to subie if need be,

wagon arms eh, didnt know that, ok will check out scrap yards,

for rear end i also plan to fit subie diff, make wider custom control arms match wide stance in front,

rear mounted battery, rear fuel cell, rad is mounted right behind engine facing upwards, air scoop to cool rads

tons of room behind engine for turbos

Have you seen Project Binky? Austin Mini with a Celica GT4 AWD turbo Cassis. Seriously informational, and good for a few lols. From the looks of the job you have ahead of you, you're going to need a good laugh now and again.

Best of luck man, and god speed.
