derricks 69 datsun 1000 build

Recommended Posts

i dont know if i posted my 1000 or not i cant find it so making another.
been working on this for the last year. i picked it up 2 years ago for $200 bucks running but clutch and brakes did not work. as of now its bare metal waiting to get sand blasted.
my plans are to repaint it blue and have a rebuild a14 with a mild crane cam, double spring lifters, port and polished and a header. yet to get a carb set up. my bro gave me a set of 91 honda cbr 750 carbs (4 carbs). have a b210 drive train to pop under it aswell.

here are some pics

Nice find and wow with the extent you are going with it. I was originally a huge Datsun 1000 fan. My first car was a 1000 coupe which I owned for about 12 years before only selling a couple years ago and have owned probably about 10 x 1000's total.

What are your plans for brakes? I know of a few little things you can do. Also check out these sites here in oz as there are still some 1000's kicking around.

Here is a couple pics of my first 1000 Coupe

Yes that is a 20B triple rotor, unfortunately I never got it finished and to the track.

Good luck with the build and look forward to seeing the progress.

Wow that's coupe is crazy. For the brakes I'm not sure kinda figure it out once I get there. There is a few set ups but there all from cars we don't have here or are just as hard to find here. I'm all over Datsun1000.com few of e guys have helped a lot the host gave me a few parts from Australia.

I used the rear disc brakes from a Nissan Bluebird/910 for the front but only 14" and bigger wheels fit over. If you want pictures of the conversion I still have access to my friends 1000 ute which I did the conversion on. Do you have the 910 over there?

Here is a link from Ozdat listing another conversion and mine.

Also for a brake booster setup I used one from a Mitsubishi Lancer LB/LC or you call them a Plymouth/Dodge Arrow. Although they might be different as you are LHD. Bolts straight in but the only thing is you need to do is push a very small area of the inner gaurd in for clearence, only like and inch. This is what they look like.

yes, we go the Datsun 910. It was badged "810" and then "Maxima" over here.

We use the 910 rear brake calipers on Datsun 1200 fronts with 280ZX discs, all bolt on stuff

The Lancer booster we also use on 1200s, it comes on Chrysler badged mitsubishi cars.
