I gotta ask, what are you using to clean your engine bay and fuel door etc? Looks like your getting great results!

This is what I've been using to clean-up.

Next, I took the hatch off to do the weatherstrip. Problem right away...

Hatch strut almost severed. I'll deal with that later.

While I was digging around behind my left rear quarter panel, found this stuffed waaaaay in the corner.......

.......speaker wire???

My radio light has always come on when I hit the button, but I never found a speaker or wires anywhere. Hooked up a speaker and.....just like that, I have tunes. Mounted the speaker and we're good!

i am so fuckin jelly.....how much for the set i was thinking about running those

Gott'em from Pierce Manifolds in Gilroy. If you call them it's cheaper than ordering online. More shipping options also. I think they were $36 for a pair.

Nice to know you have triples!! I think I was the only one at CanBy with'em.

The hatch strut....also done before Canby.

Remember?? Stud was eaten almost all the way. Had no idea.

IMG_1518.jpg

I couldn't pound the stud out because it was welded in....so broke out the grinder.

IMG_1519.jpg

IMG_1520.jpg

Hit it with a center punch and drilled my pilot hole.

Here is my idea. Found a spacer that a 6mm bolt will fit through without any play cause I don't want it rattling. I'm going to press the spacer into the strut and have it hinge on the bracket while the nut & bolt hold everything together.

IMG_1643.jpg

Just under 10mm. 3/8" bit should be good. I want it snug

Filed out the bracket hole so it can pivot freely.

Took everything to the sand blaster...

I had 3 tight valves....all intakes...the T marked the ones that were tight

Sounds much better now....I'm gonna order some smaller idles for my carbs in hopes of getting rid of the exhaust backfire on decel. I was supposed to get 50s but they sent 55s so I went with it.

My girl and I went out for her Grandma's B-day last weekend and she was a little dressed up....on the way back she was feeling good and was really enjoying riding in the Z (we don't get out much lately and she's a newbie to Datsuns)....she suggested we go take some pics....can't say no to that  .......it was hot out Sunday so we only took a few  .....she had fun, though, and we will be doing it again. These are the ones she released for now.....
