Boaty
Hey a buddy of mine is curious if a KA speed sensor will work in older Datsun transmissions or not. Is there an easy way to adapt one if it's not? They would be using an electronic speedometer. If it's a difficult task, I will simply recommend they use a GPS speedometer instead. When I did my gauge install it sparked some interest with some people, I told them I would look into some options for them. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
The later 71C speeds sensors will work in the earlier 71C transmissions that had a cable speedometer. It will also work in the 71B transmissions as far back as 1980. Earlier ('79 and older) 71B 4 and 5 speeds will work if the speed sensor is modified. This is easy to do. Quote Link to comment
Boaty
Thanks Mike! I'm not sure on his mechanic-abilities, if there is any write up or pictures and such I could forward that'd be great. He's not local to me. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
A picture of the speedo pinion area will help. Even if it's an old tranny the pinion sleeve can easily be modified and should work just fine. Quote Link to comment
nis720
I tried an S13 71C speedo in my 71B tranny but they are way too different. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
This is a 71B pinion and sleeve... I don't know what the left one above is but the right hand speed sensor should fit the 71B. . Quote Link to comment
