Hello,

First I'd like to thank Frank & Heinze for helping me with the install of the

electronic dizzy, still not 100% sure on the correct way to install it, but I am more knowledgable than before. Ok, new issue. Is there an actual PCV valve

on the L-series motors? if so where is it located? Is it in the intake manifold?

 

Also the control valve located on the drivers side inner fender well. If your 521 or 620 has no smog equipment, are those nipples plugged off or what

should they be routed to? If they are left unplugged can this cause vapor lock in the gas tank? Should I use a special gad cap?

 

If anyone has a more simplfied installation procedure for the electronic dist.

 

please send it my way. I'm new to the datsun truck line, so far pretty cool though. Thanks in advance, d521king.

in this drawing just make both connections at the PLUS side of coil

that would be the black/white wire and B of the module(this is for a matchbox ignition) use correct coil. use a piggy back jumper connector (upper right of photo)

matchbox should be taken with the correct mount found with it.

 

 

2nd photo is for points(do not go by this)

 

PCV valve is usaully on the intake manifolds on L16s comming from the crank case tube via a rubber type hose.

All L series have them. It's located on the intake near and below the carb. Look behind the exhaust manifold, on the side of the block there will be a 1" metal pipe coming out of it with a rubber hose attached. Follow the hose out and up to the where is attaches to the intake. That will be the PCV valve. The PCV is important for keeping oil, water and gas vapors from condensing inside your motor and diluting your oil. Best left connected, has no effect on performance.

The control valve should be hooked up to the hose going to the PCV valve. It has a hose and line going to the gas tank and one to the air filter. In operation the excess fumes from the tank are drawn into the intake and burned. Again this has no effect on performance and should be left on. Sealing the pipe from the tank can and will cause the tank to collapse as the fuel is used up. Leaving it open will only allow fumes into the engine compartment.
