1600 vs. L-series carb spacing question

I'm trying to figure out a way to rig up a stock-looking air cleaner for my 710, which is tricky because the brake booster gets in the way. I am thinking about using a roadster air cleaner as a base to start a custom housing.

Since the L-series SSS air cleaners are so rare and expensive, I don't want to cut one up. Is the distance between the carbs the same for the 1600 roadster engine and L-series engines?

Here's a picture of the stock setup for dual carbs in a LHD 710 (160J) SSS:

when I had SSS SU's on my 620 it had the larger booster so I only had like 1.5in between it and the back carb.

I drew up a design and had erichwaslike make it for me.

Thanks for the pictures! I think that is pretty much what I'll need to make. I already have a back plate for a 1600 roadster with 2 SUs, so maybe I can use that as a starting point.

R16 engine spacing is different from L16/L18/L20B spacing, to fit a different kind of linkage.

Ah, I figured that I wouldn't be so lucky! I'll put up some pictures when I weld together a solution.
