dp320
I'm trying to decide where to send mine to be refurbished. The stuff all works, just faded and dirty. Anyone have recommendations? For the shops I've talked to so far a big factor seems to be whether they've templated the dial numbers and letters already. So it's less expensive to find a place that has the templates already. Does anyone know who did that custom blue gauge background one I've seen photos of? Finally, my radio works but has anyone had a Datsun OEM radio refurbished? Places I've called so far say they only work on US radios from that era. Quote Link to comment
wayno
Ask this guy who did his, looks decent, I don't care for the color myself, but it matches the truck. http://community.ratsun.net/topic/42332-wylders-65-l320-build-thread/ Before and after I assume, as I copied these photos from his thread. I don't know the specifics, but he started at 0 miles again? I prefer the stock dark color myself, the numbers stand out better, as I am old and can't see up close without cheaters. :geek:    Quote Link to comment
burrito213
I believe I emailed the person who owns those gauges and the company he used was not cheap. I like the gauges that got refurbished. If you have a disposable income then consider refurbishing them but you said they work so I wouldn't do it until they break or going for a 100% complete resto. Quote Link to comment
AZ_L320
I just removed mine about a year ago and cleaned them up good. I used some florescent orange paint and touched up the needles. (took me a couple colors to find the right one). They are easy to remove and take apart. My truck is 100% stock so I didn't want to change the color of the gauges. When cleaning the dark background don't use anything harsh and nothing abrasive. Here are a couple pics of mine as well as the orig radio. Dale - AZ Quote Link to comment
zed1
AZ_L320, What color paint did you use for the needles? Thanks, Keith Quote Link to comment
twiztedintentions
They look new again! I'm in the process of deciding what I want to do with my gauges. I also tried cleaning mine and they're far too faded to bring back. :( of course my truck is the opposite of stock but I still want them to be presentable. Quote Link to comment
