Fast idle and slow idle

at normal operation my truck idles at around 800 to 900. When i am driving around and come to a stop my truck idles at around 1500 to 2000. i usually rev it up and it comes back down to about 900 to 1100.

 

does anyone know what this is?

 

i am clueless and i am getting tired of rev'n the gas. i am now finding my self doing it in my girlfriends car.

Sticky linkage or the choke is on/misadjusted.

how does one adjust the choke?

Throttle cable may be too tight.

Throttle shaft on carb worn into an oval shape and throttle plates rubbing the sides of the barrel and sticking... carb worn out.

The choke or accelerator linkages are binding... spray with carb cleaner.

Haha... Mine does the same thing... And my gf gets onto me when I do it in her car too. I've yet to address it though... might take care of that one tomorrow...
