Starting problems :(

Video shows it better then I can describe it. The battery is good, new starter and positive battery cable. It did that before everything, and after. It doesn't matter if the truck is warm or cold. It does it about 75% of the time. I'm going to check battery to ground to see if that's my problem sometime today. What else would be a good idea to check?

Ignition timing too advanced. Should be 3 degrees BTDC (plus or minus 2 degrees)

Carefully check your Z24 rotor and under the cap. There are 8 plug wires and basically 2 rotors all jammed in there so it's easy for a spark to jump to a different wire to get to ground. If they are old or you have no idea when they were replaced then it's time. Look for evidence of carbon tracking... this is where the spark has burned or etched a path on the plastic surface. This path will look like a small jagged pencil line. Possibly between plug terminals on the inside or outside of the cap or on the rotor. The high tension tower on the coil can also have one going to the negative terminal.

Wires. In a dark garage crank it over and look for sparks on outside of cap, coil or any of the wires.

Ignition is approx. 5 degrees BTDC. Cap, rotor, wires all new 8k miles/3 years ago. Brand new plugs. Coils are out of a junkyard ( I know, shame on me) 5 years ago. I found a very iffy negative terminal end and after I replaced it, it seemed to help, but not go away. I'm going to clean the negative wire end (block side), replace the coils, and see if I can get the timing any closer to 3 degrees. Any other idea's are helpful and considered. Thanks!

Take the starter out and have it checked several times. Sounds like it may be overheating.

I bought a new starter when I first bought my truck, it kept not starting on me. Took it in, passed 3 times, and on the fourth time it failed. The replacement "New" starter failed on the 4th test. Starter after that was fine.
