I got the car in 2004, my senior year of highschool. It was my first car. I had always loved 510's since I saw the blue rotary one that was in Sport Compact Car a few years ago. After a few months of searching I found one...the sickness had started.
The car was originally an ITC race car so it had a some basic stuff done to it when I got it. SSS L18 w/SU's, lowering springs, front and rear sway bars, Autopower roll bar, and Enkie wheels. Nothing special. It also had a repaint with some stripes and other racey stuff...as well as a bit of rust here and there. This is what it originally looked like.

It needed some sorting an tuning but I got it driveable for my last year of highschool. First came coilovers and camber plates and a BRE spook (which I destroyed a few weeks after it got on the car...yeah, my cars a little low), all the while it became more ratty as I fixed rust and the primer started to take over...
Coilovers, 280zx struts with Porche 911 Koni insterts, 300# springs, custom machined camber/caster plates.

Then came the some Konig Rewinds...

That year I got my first taste of autocrossing at Shasta '06 (man, I miss Shasta) and I was hooked...

I enjoyed the car for the rat that it was for a while, using it as a DD the whole time. I then got tired of the horrible design of the Autopower roll bar so I made my own.

Also modified the gas tank so I can run really low fuel for auto-x's.

I then go tired of driving such an eyesore so I started body work to get it painted. Replaced rust in the floors, fenders, rockers, tail light panel, and rear quarter panels. I did a "mini" tub on the rear fenders. Hand flared the front and rear fenders and made a smooth roll pan for the rear. I also shaved the side markers, licence plate lights, and pillar vents. I figured that the more stuff I shaved, the cheaper it would be cause I didn't have to find that rare stuff in good condition. Painted it with enamel paint cause I'm cheap and I didn't need a show car, just a 20/20 paint job. Turned out OK, not great up close, but not bad.

Also made some aluminum door panels.

So thats pretty much how it sits now. I know there are things that I forgot, I've worked on this car for so long I'm sure that some things have skipped my mind.
At this moment its sitting at my home waiting for me to come back from college. I busted some rings while I was on spring break so I had to leave it home for a while. The plan for when I get home is to dive into a engine swap with this beast.

44 mikuni's...

While the engine is out I'm going to clean up the engine bay and rewire the car. I'm also going to do some custom headers and intake manifold for the KA. So updates won't happen for another month or so when I get home and tear into it. I can't wait...
