the Gypsy Green Goon

Recommended Posts

so i got mu goon 2 weeks ago and have been doing work sense then on it and i decided i wanted to start a build thread on here so this is it!

its a 71 pea green goon!

it was pretty stripped of everything when i got it. basically everything bolt on was already stripped off (carb, starter, distributor, radiator, alternator)

the drive shaft is missing as well and steering column was all messed up.

so far what i have done is get everything and put it back in so we could start it and see if it runs and it does!! hits on all 4 cylinders!

changed out the gas tank with a clean one.

stripped all the sound dampening tar shit off the floors

put in a new clutch master

replaced the left hub

new steering column

and replaced the window regulator because it didn't work at all. the window would fall every time

i know there is more stuff we have done to it but cant think of it at the moment but will be updating from now on out until its drive able!

doing the calipers and rotters this week!

and drive shaft

and everything else we can!

so this is the sad part because this is that part that is the distruction thread! we got another 2 door yesterday form a guy.. well the guy rob who got one of the 2 doors we found when we got all 5 of them got us this one cause it was already fucked and should be the one to get cut op and not the one we where which is... fixable.. with time..

but any ways this car was rolled atleast 2 times

the roof was caved slitly frame was kinda twisted.

rear control arms where bent. but the front floors where good the front clip and the rear spring mounts where good so we got it to cut up

cause i need the front clip for my 4 door cause it is kinda fucked cause i hit a gard rail with it.

and the other 4 door my buddy got needs floors and the spring mounts.

front clip is off

then we carried the car out side cause we needed the lift for some one who is actually paying!

its crazy how light they are with nothing on them.

2 of us carried it out side

but it was a pretty good day

also got some stuff done on the goon!

finished up the brakes

needed to replace the rear brake cylinders

and put in a seat! which is nice!

got the other seat in today and took it for a drive around the block!! soo stoked on it! but the brakes felt like shit and we looked to bleed them agian and well the rear cylinder was puking every where on the left side so we have to change that out again and then tomorrow we are taking it for an alignment! soo stoked!!

so took it to get aligned and on its maiden voyage was interesting. we ran out of gas on the way. then got some in it then went to the station to fill it and then the tank started leking. we figured out it was the sending unit on top was not all the way tight. i think that was the problem any way. but then got it alined and it was pretty good has some positive camber but thats form the control arm stud is bent. need to fix that. and then on the way back to the shop the slave cylinder took a shit! and that was a good ride. then the front brakes over heated and we are not quite sure what is wrong with that. something with the master not releasing all the way i think. but we are close. it is fun to drive!! and it doesnt run to bad considering it has been sitting for 20 years

I had the same wheels on my wagon. Easy way to clean them, get Napa aluminum brightener. Spray on, let sit for 30-40 seconds, spray off with hose. Before n after shots.... I did have to spray a little on and use a wire brush in the corners but easy as all hell.
